Error1 Connection problems 04/04/2007 Can anyone connect?

I have not had a problem with this untill today 04/04/2007 I have a clean install and have checked my cfg file and it is ok.

I have tracert the old server without a problem but I cannot tracert the new server now.....fails on last hop....

Is there a server problem today? Can anyone connect?

Hi there,
There are currently no server issues that i am aware of although if you hit packet loss whilst trying to connect you can get the error code that you refer to.
My suggestion is to retry the login and if it maintians it's failure please post again in this thread where we can look at the problem further.

I deleted the Full install and re-installed the game. I /flushdns'd and changed my cfg file and now it allows me to log on and is in the process of patching the installation...I think it should work now.......should have backed up my map markers tho .....

Try Using a program like neotrace to find out where that is (if its possible to do that) Make sure you go through the usual processes of cold rebooting your router and PC.

If you are able to determin where the 3rd hop is, that node may be avoidable.

If after all of that, it still doesnt work, it *may* be an isp issue. Then i can't help

There seems to be a "rolling problem" with access to GF servers of late. It took me 45 minutes for example to get the REPLY button to work (page not found). Tracert reulsts for me today are similar to what's been posted with, in my case, hops 4, 5 and 7 timing out.

Had lots of problems logging in game getting a series of error code 1's, player already in game and log ins only to find interminable PW's. Questions in chat channels find clumps of "Yeah me too's" and clumps of "no, not a bit's" .

Over the last few days, it seems people are having these interminable please waits that they just givce up and come back hours later almost as if it was a "rolling brownout" like the electric utility compoanies do when demand exceeds available power supply.
