Pcheez I think you read my mind! Was just wondering myself about this ratio and came to the forum to post poll myself! :D Definitely noticed much more mainly melee out there than Magic, and very few mainly defensive mages in particular. As for Ranged, well, lol, I think they're rarer than a Gingo with a sunny disposition! ;)

Would be interested to see a melee/healer/mage ratio!

I would imagine the vast majority of players will balance their characters out, favouring one style over the other, but essentially will dabble in both areas to some extent. I guess the poll is basically showing what are peoples preferential style of play, rather than any comment on purist class spread.

With Ryzom's skill tree you are actively encouraged to balance out your characters depending on your playstyle.

Anyone doing what I am doing with my new fyros character? Hitting a mob with a couple of damage spells (and perhaps a fear and then two more acid/cold spells), and then finishing it off with dual daggers wearing light armor (I don't need no stinkin' branch of firewood... ehh... magic amplifier :) ).

Of course that may not work quite as well once he actually gets of the newbie island - or at least past level 50 or so :) .

I apologize foe not including harvesters and crafters, but well, its not the aim of this poll :)
As for well rounded characters, i said vote the higher skill u have.
So if u have 51 melee and 52 magic(of any kind) vote magic :)
simple really.
Its pretty much the ratio i expected :/
Well keep on voting , maybe someday magi will outnumber meleers. well no, that is quite unlikely, but u cant blame a guy for hoping :)

well as for gunners , well,,ermm.... just post a thread stating ur a gunner :)
if u havent noticed, we dont exactly have regiments of gunners quite yet ;)

This stats may be innacurate...

Consider Fyros... what's the ratio there? Matis? Tryker? Zorai?

The overall number looks clear, but I have the feeling there are more mages in matis and zorai than in fyros...
