Re-Rolling Skills... for a while
Re-Rolling Skills... for a while
Just a thought. It seems to me that a lot of the crafting skills result in lame items, but a high expenditure of sp. For example, I blew 130sp on bowrifle as Tryker (30 for the weapon and 100 for ammo), and THEN someone mentioned not to bother because it was worthless. I think it'd be way cooler, as opposed to having to constantly re-make my character, to allow us some flexibility in re-distributing sp until things work like they're supposed to. Comments?
Re: Re-Rolling Skills... for a while
I believe this was brought up on one of the Wishlists. This would certainly help some of us who regret spending sp for certain useless or broken skills.
Re: Re-Rolling Skills... for a while
I have taken 6 characters to about level 50-60, some with 3 or 4 areas at that level and am currently running a new one thats majoring in melee in the hope that consigners will be in soon.
With my other characters that were going to be self sufficient I could see the writing on the wall. At higher levels there was no way they could be self sufficient without advancing at a very very slow rate.
Without good info on the skill trees available it is very hard to make right choices and I found that bad choices did make a major impact on the difficulty of killing good exp mobs.

Re: Re-Rolling Skills... for a while
I think it is possible to look ahead in the actions progression list, at least to the next stage in levels.
I am going to be a Fully self sufficient forager/armor/weapons crafter, granted I DOUBT I will be able to make EVERY kind of item for both, but then I am not planning on supplying the entire player base...only myself and a few friends...and anyone that happens to need the items I can make.

Re: Re-Rolling Skills... for a while
I blew about 800 skill points so far (including ranged/ammo crafting of course) but you know what?
I DON'T CARE and moreover IT'S ALL MY OWN FAULT!
I have serious issues with Nevrax about gameplay features they owe me in my opinion and I want them to deliver asap.
But having their staff waste precious time on *improvements* that make up for my couriosity, greed and poor choice is LAST on my personal devs-to-do list.

I don't understand why you would need to reroll. Just start crafting something else with your current character. The fact that you can make ranged weapons in no way penalizes you. The only thing you have lost is the time you spent crafting ranged weapons. If you reroll you will lose even more time advancing your character to the level your current character is now in fighting, magic, etc. In fact having those levels in ranged may even end up being a benefit if you used some of the points to advance more generic skills like Will, Dexterity, etc.
Let me say that again because this just doesn't sink in for many people who apparently don't understand how this skill-based system works. You have not wasted skill points, you have only lost time. You can always obtain more skill points with your current character. The only reason to reroll would be to switch how your character looks or your race.

Re: Re-Rolling Skills... for a while
But if there is a 99 level-cap, that means a potential of 990 crafting points over the life of one's character correct? Seems to me that the 100sp rifle ammo plans are mightly costly in the face of this limit.docsardo wrote:I don't understand why you would need to reroll. What level cap?
Re: Re-Rolling Skills... for a while
Yeah. What Cap?
Re: Re-Rolling Skills... for a while
Umm, there is no level cap. Other than 250.
I vaguely remember during one of the FBT tests that we were boosted to level 150ish in everything and I had more than 10,000 crafting SP, So many I could buy every craft skill at that level.
