hi,
I'm Matora, ingame.
But this is not about him.
This is about me.
I'm found out about this game, a month ago. And i arrived on ml a few days ago.
That's slow, because i've a real busy life outside ryzom.
I'm leading a small company myself.
That said, i understand what wat GF is going trough. And no, in my case, money isnt the first base to make dicissions. People who i appriciate and are hard working for me and my firm is a lot more important.
But in some cases, we have to make difficult dicissions. That our responsabilty towarts our project, firm, company, game, whatever.
Somethimes that are dicisions that are difficult to accept by my co-workers.
somethimes difficult to accept by my costumers.
But i had to make them, i think.
That i say 'i think' is important. I, and no-one, can look in the future. for some of the steps i took, i had to reconsider, if not to late.
I'm human, i make mistakes.
but they say a management can make two big mistakes :
1. make a wrong dicision
2. make no dicision.
Let me tell you that the second mistake is the worst a manager of a company can make.
And GF made a one regarding JOLT, not a nice one, but they made their mind up.
I'm sure, they didn't like it.
They knew, people would leave, the knew many others would be angry.
Its a hard one to make, and i know how that feels.
I've been reading the mirc logs, and all i can say it that is very seldom seen that a compagny is discussing a fact like that this way with their costumers.
It was not without risks, but they took it. I think its very brave.
You can say, that it's easy for me because i don't know JOLT long.
And you're right.
I had some encounters with them, and i must say they were awesome.
Seng is the name i remember the most, and it make's my hart brake, what happend to him and his collegues.
I think that GF trying to save a game, as good and as bad as they can. This is a game company after all. They must love game's to take over SoR. They must have loved the consept, the way it was meant to play, the commutity.
Now, you must step in the shoes of somebody interested in this world. Somebody new, who saw an ad, who browsed mmorpg.com, wathever.
One of the first things he does is reading the forums................
Would you try this game, after reading the latest treats ? I know i wouldnt.
It's stupid for me to ask, i know, its naive, i know, but i'm asking nevertheless :
if you love this game, keep in mind other new players, who can save the game you love, will read what you write.
I know that nobody says something bad about the game, only the company that support the game. But that is even worse, believe me.
Just try keep the focus on the game is in my opinion the best we can do now. and move on.
I'm aware that what i write can seem cold, and maby i offended someone.
I'm realy sorry then, maybe its because english is not my native language and i dont always find to right words to say what i feel.
Hope to see you all ingame soon, and hope we can have as much fun for years as i had in the last month.
This is truely a game worth fighting for.

difficult dicission
Re: difficult dicission
Well said, man. I agree that the new players will come here and see those posts and think that the game is going away soon, and why should they even play?
The fact is (I would bet a million bux) that's it's not going nowhere anytime soon.
I rememeber a little game called "There"..a virtual chatroom that me and my wife loved, making friends, hanging out...it was a very cool game.
Then came "Black Friday"...a day when the players thought that the game was ending. It's still going strong, and has been for years.
It is only natural for people to express thier aggravations and opinions in this public forum, and it is also natural for people to feel as though it isn't the place for that.
I feel both ways, I agree with both sides. Growing pains are always awkward. I just got done seeing one of the oldest GM's leave. It was quite sad.
Like when we were killed by the Kitin in droves, this is another obstacle to overcome. We can, and will!
See you in game!

Re: difficult dicission
Well, neuze, thanks for your point. Relieves me that in this mayhem of older players fleeting, the newbies (more newbies than me, I mean
) see the things from other point of view.
Obviously the GF decisions are a point on inflexion; and that's better than an end, at least for me.
Witch gives me hope to me is the fact that GF are doing things; the do more than they speak; better or worse choices, they do it. And they are realistic; they want the game to survive. Nevrax, at least all I've seen, said a lot, a didn't do almost nothig. So, see how GF is doing things is a good point for me.
There are many people upset, and they will leave.
There are many people that simply found another MMORPG and this doesn't feel their first choice, and they will leave.
There are many people who simply doesn't like the direction that the game comes lately, and will not wait to see what GF will do, and they will leave.
There are, simply, people bored after two or three years, and they'll leave.
But, still, a lot of people, most people, can I say, remains here.
BTW, I think same like you: what Phelan do in IRC was very rare. Companies don't use to do that, because most of the times it gives more problems than not. But, is nicer; and so they do. For some players that IRC Q&A gives him the reasons to go; for others like me that Q&A was the final reason to stay here firmly.

Re: difficult dicission
Just something to remember for all the naysayers- without GF none of us would be playing ryzom at all right now, in fact we probably wouldn't have been playing for the last month.sprite wrote:Some of us oldbies are in agreement with the newbies![]()
I say give them a chance and see where it goes, the CSR issue should sort itself out soon enough.Without further development the game is doomed to die a painful death without devs. So cutting JOLT; while painful, could be the thing that saves ryzom as a whole.

Re: difficult dicission
I was under the understanding that GF made the only bid that was acceptable to the bankruptcy courts, I am very sure that GF did not bid a euro more than they had to under the circumstances...ffxjosh wrote:not true.
