Hello all, /wave !

Just wanted to make an introduction before diving in to the forums further, though I'm on a free account there's only so much I'll be able to see.
I have tried Ryzom before but I never really got into it, I was mostly disapointed with the scripting of the quest lines at the time and used to games both single player and mmo that held your hand all the way to 'end game'. But as the year went on I've become really annoyed with the mentality that everything you do is to reach 'end game' and then what? Wait for an expansion and yet another end game... This has become very tedious, and I can't stand being being dependant wholly on items, especially when acquiring those items means plugging yourself to an IV for a week and not move from your desk I also have the impression that this game is more open ended? There's not really an ultimate goal, you just sort of live in the world?
So now I'm in Silan and having a great time, I get the feeling that armor, weapons and general items are important but not in the same way as in other games? And if you have the funds you can equip yourself satisfactorily without sleep deprivation?
The art style is so stunning, but I had a hard time getting used to the alien feel of the races. I was first drawn to the Matis, like a lot of people I think, because of their ethereal beauty and their beautiful architecture. But playing one made me feel like I should own the world and everyone else owed me something.... O.o Didn't like that, so next I went with Fyros, but my Fyros although passionate, always seemed angry with the world, that didn't suit me either. Since I'm usual a happy little thing, I finally decided to give Tryker a road test even though initially their looks didn't appeal to me. But lo and behold, it was my favorite choice. My little Tryker girl had sparkling eyes, a jolly spring in her step and a love of discovering treasure.
I also debated which server to pick, Arispotle probably has the most choice of guilds, but I don't know when I'll be able to join one as I'm in the middle of a big move in RL and don't want to subscribe to anything... So I went with Cho, it has time to grow still. So if you see a Trykette named Hazi feel free to say hey. ^^
I've also modded a bit before in FFXI with only one released, and now in Elderscrolls: Oblivion with none released yet, I'm wondering how intuitive you think the Ring is compared to the Elderscrolls CS if you've played, and how much success people have had with it, and more importantly how much fun it is =D. Also can a Ring 'instance' be designed as a player home or base? That would be my first attempt I think.
Thanks for reading!
