I'm wondering where most of the zorai peoples are adventuring.
I'm a few day old to the City of Intuition area and I mostly see the same peoples over and over.
Where is everyone, I mean we must be more than a few.
Where is everyone, and when should I get there, if else where of course.
Where are most of the Zorai?
Re: Where are most of the Zorai?
I don't think the Zorai are that popular of a choice for race atm. Most people seem to be making Matis or Fyroth chars. With that said, most people also tend to choose the "middle" town for a base. If you are in one of the towns in a corner of the map, there may not be many people there. Also, keep your regional tab up as that is island wide for the noob area and you can see people chatting there.

Well I've been mainly hanging out in Zora (think thats the citys name). Pretty much killing whatever I can around that area. Also harvesting a little from time to time.co1osse wrote:I'm wondering where most of the zorai peoples are adventuring.

Re: Where are most of the Zorai?
There have been a few posts on this and why it might be, and it usually comes down to the masks. They're the main draw for most of the people who do pick Zorai, but they're also the main reason people avoid them. I made a character of each race just to get a feel for the different environments and communities, but I have to admit that I have a hard time really identifying with my Zorai character; I can't really think of the character as an extension of myself when I have no idea what she actually looks like.tgile001 wrote:I don't think the Zorai are that popular of a choice for race atm. That said, it certainly opens up new areas for roleplaying. In a society where none of the typical genetic markers (symmetrical features, lip size, etc) are known, people would either choose their mates/companions based on shared interests, or focus on different physical aspects. "Doesn't he just have the cutest ankles?" "Did you see that woman's toes?" Given that the Zorai seem to be a spiritually advanced culture, having concealed their own identities (and presumably their vanity in so doing) to demonstrate their worship of the Kami, I think it's likely that the average Zorai would take the high road.
In any case, the masks are a barrier for a lot of people. The only friend I have who's playing the game really liked the blue skin, but she just couldn't relate to the idea of always wearing the wooden veil. She ended up making a Fyros character, so I tend to play my Fyros character more than my Tryker, Matis, or Zorai. I think the comparitively small Zorai population is a trend that will continue, though that's not necessarily such a bad thing. I actually think it's kind of neat that there's a subculture in Ryzom. Zorai are the goths of the game.
Plus, you just know they'll have congo drums on their soundtrack when the music patch launches. Who doesn't like congo drums? Ooga booga, I say.

Re: Where are most of the Zorai?
My real life character seems to like Zorai, especially the masks, so I play them just to keep him happy.
Re: Where are most of the Zorai?
Actually according to the poll on the Ryzom Vault, the least popular race is the Fyros, not the Zorai (who come in second least popular). It goes Matis, Tryker, Zorai, Fyros, which is surprising to me considering the Fyros are the warrior race.
Perhaps there's a correlation in that poll to geography. Personally, judging by territory alone, I certainly WOULD have picked the forest, then lakelands, then jungle, then desert.
Anyway I love the masks, and the spirituality of the Zorai--they'd be my primary race if my brother (who I play with) wasn't leaning towards the Trykers, and if those beautiful lakelands weren't offered

Re: Where are most of the Zorai?
Sorry you got it all wrong, we are not in zorah because we have begun expanding out. we are in as far ad hoi-choi and min choi. we use those as bases now and go out to Maidens and Umbra to fight and harvest. If you think the kippee spot is good xp wait till you go out to maidens!!! In any given night i see people everywhere and at least over 50 different people. Many new faces coming in to the mainland everyday, but like i said zora is like a secondary begginers place till post 50 when the go out to maidens.
Zorai community rocks, and i luv my mask!!

Re: Where are most of the Zorai?
Funny, I've only been on the newb islands (until a faster graphics card arrives), but Fyros seemed the most populated today. Zorai was sparse, though.
It seems odd that people bond to their characters' faces since I got so many requests to craft helmets.
Personally, I think the masks make the Zorai the best looking and that's the first race I plan to take to the mainland.

Zorai - Hoisin; Matis - Oreilly
Re: Where are most of the Zorai?
Helmets can be taken off though, and you always know what your character looks like under them. The masks can not be removed.
I've played everything but Tryker now and Matis is the most populous followed closely by Fyros. Zorai has a lot less then those two, but strangely I find myself playing my Zorai recently over my Fyros, the culture and location are great, that ancient Japanese/Polynesian look set in the jungle, it's great. The mask still bugs me, but I'm starting to ignore it.

Re: Where are most of the Zorai?
I have found that the masks are a very intriguing feature of the zorai. The first time i saw the masks back in the beta I have to admit it seemed to lack some the intial bonding that one does when picking out a face as opposed to a mask.
However, with that said, I believe the masks do indicate and speak to the personalities of the character. I look at the masks of my fellows and find that most of the features and colors of the masks can speak volumes about the personal make up of the wearer. One of my friends has chosen the most delicate of lines for his mask and his personality seems to fit with this mask. He seems considerate, kind and very thoughtful of himself and those around him. The color however speaks to his determination and confidence in his abilities. Even though the lacey pattern he chose would suggest to me that something whimsical and fragile, the bold color he choose has made me aware of his steadfastness and tenacity of spirit.
I on the other hand chose a pattern of bold strokes and strong color scheme, perhaps indicating my rashness and determination in the face of uncertian circumstances of battle. I perhaps, have also chosen the colors to over compensate for my sometimes lack of good sense when in the field fighting for my life, but the colors i choose appear to me to indicate a steadfastness and resolution not to give up. The colors I chose were the orange and yellows, not the garish purples or pinks, which would seem to me to indicate a certian personality altogether different then mine.
So whilest the other races may pick out pretty faces, or handsome as the case may be, I get to make a much more bold and sutble statement about who is behind my mask.
I am very happy to be a Zorai
