Hello. I am new to ryzom and was wondering which server it is best to start on ?
Aris is a old server with a long standing population and community but Cho is young and relatively unestablished.
I like to tradeskill alot. but t9o tradeskill one needs customers to at least a limited extent.
Could some fo the old timers please answer a few questions for me about the servers ?
How is the economy on Ari and Cho for a new player and could i find any significant customer baseage for my lowbie 20-100 crafting skills ?
How are the RP activities on Aris and how are they on Cho ?
Which server in your own honest opinion provieds the best place to start for a new player and why ?
i'll be checking this thread every 15-30 minutes today eagerly awaiting the answers.
Thank you for your help.
New to SoR, where to start ?
Re: New to SoR, where to start ?
I can only answer for Arispotle. There is some demand for low q items, especially in guilds with sizeable number of newer players. Without a guild, you might have to really network with other new players to find customers. There are rp activities on Arispotle both from the CSR's and player-created. If you are interested in rp activities, I suggest looking to the rp guilds as noted in the guild listingsroseh wrote:How is the economy on Ari and Cho for a new player and could i find any significant customer baseage for my lowbie 20-100 crafting skills ?

Re: New to SoR, where to start ?
I started on Ari before moving over to Cho when it opened. In my opinion they are both good servers for new players to start on but which is better to start on depends on what your looking for. It all really comes down to Ari is the older and more established while Cho is still developing.
For Roleplaying (I'm not a roleplayer myself so I'm kinda guessing) I'd say Ari is probably the better server. Both servers have events run on them by the Staff but Ari being the more established server has more roleplayers and more established roleplaying.
For Crafting I'd say Cho is probably the better server. Ari has more players as a potential market but it also has more crafters and mroe crafters with multiple crafting skill lines, while on Cho it is easier to make an impact and feel like what your making is usefull to other players.

I started on Cho in December and have seen it grow quite a lot in a short period. It's easy to get to know people when it's not so crowded also, and as Ashling says, you feel like you're making an impact.
