1) Are "riding" and "pack" Mektoubs immune from creature and NPC attacks?
2) While riding a Mektoub is your percent chance of being attacked reduced, but damage suffered the same?
3) If a big bad one-hit-to-kill creature hits you while on a Mektoub will your char die?
4) Can you control a "caravan" where you are riding a Mektoub and have 3 or 4 other Mektoubs on "follow"?
5) Does "Speeding Up Power" affect Mektoubs, or chars only?
6) Do Ryzom players agree with my idea that "roads" marked out by posts under the big roots in the sky should give you a reduced risk of suffering aggro by nearby creatures and NPCs? This would enable n00bz to move through tougher provinces without need of escort by lvl 250 type players, as long as they stuck to "roads" and towns.
Thanks,
Amphiaraus

Re: Mektoub and "road" questions
No, area of effect attacks like zerx acid kill mounts and packers. Also, I hear that gingos will attack them directly.ark014 wrote:1) Are "riding" and "pack" Mektoubs immune from creature and NPC attacks?
Yes, damage suffered is the same.ark014 wrote:2) While riding a Mektoub is your percent chance of being attacked reduced, but damage suffered the same?
Sure.ark014 wrote:3) If a big bad one-hit-to-kill creature hits you while on a Mektoub will your char die?
Characters only.ark014 wrote:5) Does "Speeding Up Power" affect Mektoubs, or chars only?
Aren't roads the fast-food restaurants for Atys' predators?ark014 wrote:6) Do Ryzom players agree with my idea that "roads" marked out by posts under the big roots in the sky should give you a reduced risk of suffering aggro by nearby creatures and NPCs?

regarding speed...
you can only activate the speed power on yourself, however there is nothing stopping you mounting a mek straight away after... have fun

last time i tried that the server kept pulling me back to the speed of a mektoub, giving a very lag-like experience ^^rushin wrote:regarding speed...

Re: Mektoub and "road" questions
Apparently, and I just found this out, packers are a target for any aggro creature. I swear it didn't used to be like this. But, on Cho, I was trekking my Mount and Packers to Grove of Confusion, and gingos, torback, ocyx all attacked my packers. They left my mount alone, but they went for my packers.ark014 wrote:1) Are "riding" and "pack" Mektoubs immune from creature and NPC attacks?

**Disclaimer: The following responses are based solely on the author's experiences...individual results may vary.**
Regarding -
#1. There are many mobs that will attack your packers and your mounts. Riding on a mount, your speed is rapid enough that the mob either a.) does not notice you before you leave it's aggro range, or b.) you easily outrun its attack (it may still hit you once or twice before you escape it). Please note - this does NOT apply to packers...their speed cannot compare to that of a mount, and therefore a packer will not easily outrun an attacking mob.
#2. Neither attack probability nor damage taken is reduced.
#3. Oh, yes...and should the attack come from a mob that has an area attack (i.e. Zerx acid or Goari electricity), your Mount can perish, as well.
#4. Yes, you can lead a caravan in this fashion, however, you should carefully consider the different speeds of your animals when attempting this...you riding a mount will easily outrun any packers, and you will end up stopping every now and then so that they can catch up. This can be quite dangerous, depending on what area you are crossing.
#5. Characters only. However, you _can_ consume a "Speed" egg while riding a mount, thereby speeding up the mount.
#6. Absolutely not...there is no honor in taking the easy route.

Re: Mektoub and "road" questions
No. However, the most expensive packers (1* purple, rapid speed) are very rarely attacked or killed. Area-of-Effect attacks (zerx spit, najab snot, gingo dust, yelk stench) and toxic clouds from material sources always affect nearby mounts/packers. Named carnivores (i.e. Torrius in Knoll of Dissent) also tend to be a distinct hazard.ark014 wrote:1) Are "riding" and "pack" Mektoubs immune from creature and NPC attacks?
There are very few places that can't be snuck through by a level-1, if they're careful. No need to make the game easier.ark014 wrote:6) Do Ryzom players agree with my idea that "roads" marked out by posts under the big roots in the sky should give you a reduced risk of suffering aggro by nearby creatures and NPCs? Re: Mektoub and "road" questions
What happens if you are sitting on a riding Mektoub when you activate a Teleport ticket?
a) Is the riding Mektoub left behind, and your char teleports alone to the intended destination?
b) OR does your char AND the mektoub he or she is riding, both teleport to the intended destination?
Also, is there any scenario that might cause your char, a char's riding mek, or a char's pack mek, to have items vanish from the char's -- or mektoub's -- inventory?
Thanks,
Amphiaraus
