Re: Questions of a Newb :P
The "unlimited trial" is often misleading - you can't get above level 20 in skills (of 250) or leave the newbie island. The "unlimited" refers only to time-unlimited (most trials are 7, 14 or 30 days).nasgal wrote: if you dont buy the erm erm expaned pack (I shal call it premm version) dont you get to see more of the world and if you dont buy it do you have anything to do?

Re: Questions of a Newb :P
I've only played a few days & am already at 20 for fighting. I am considering subscribing.
How long should you stay on the island? til lvl 30 or so? Thanks.

Re: Questions of a Newb :P
Finish as many mssions as you can tolerate before getting utterly bored, then come to the mainland. And all missions: fight, magic, harvest, craft, Kami, Karavan, Chiang, everything. Don't worry about your level.linus25 wrote:I've only played a few days & am already at 20 for fighting. I am considering subscribing.

Re: Questions of a Newb :P
Have to agree completely with that. You need to be level 30 in magic or fighting before it will let you finish the last mission anyway - higher if you want to do it with peers rather than just getting a level 50+ character to do the mission for you (Yes, some people stay on the island long after they've stopped getting reasonable rewards from it and they are usually bored enough to help people with their last few missions).sehracii wrote:Finish as many mssions as you can tolerate before getting utterly bored, then come to the mainland. Re: Questions of a Newb :P
Yup. Leaving the island isn't about your level. The missions on the island are there to help teach you the mechanics of this game. To teach you the basics of each skill tree, and to teach you how versatile those skill branches can be.
Trust me, if you pay attention to the crafting and harvesting missions, you will have a major leg up if you decide to pursue those skills. (I've tutored quite a few homins through starting up harvesting, which they did not do on the Island, and it shows.)

Re: Questions of a Newb :P
thanks for the advice. I am enjoying lvling crafting & harvesting.
I plan on do all the quests before going on to the mainland.
Couple more questions for mainland folks, is the mainland crowded? any strategy for picking city or faction.
I'm Fyros & will probably chose pyr/kami. thoughts? thx

Re: Questions of a Newb :P
The mainland is very very big. Depending on where you go, you may find many other homins, or you may find yourself completely alone.
You will always find others digging in Dyron, hunting in Void, socialising and crafting at the stables in Yrkanis... But Atys is a vast place, and many parts of it are rarely visited by homins.
As for civilisations and factions... It is quite possible to live on Atys without choosing either. And none of them are "better" than others. It is simply a matter of personal preference, and possibly the preference of those who end up being your friends.
I would recommend that you don't worry about it too much yet, and see where your life on Atys takes you. By the time you have a need for any of the faction perks, like the Prime Root teleport pacts, you'll have been around long enough to make a more informed choice.
Enjoy your stay on our beloved rootball.
