My first days on the mainland? Worst in game experience ever.

Post by maxo80 »

Hello everyone.

I downloaded Ryzom's trial and a few days ago I decided to take a look at the mainland.
My experience on the mainland, after less than 48 hours, was terrible.
1) Zora is desolated, I cannot find other players, exspecially low level characters like me.
2) This game has a very stupid quest system. I've accepted my first quest from the welcomer: I had to kill 2 Raugs and 2 Javings. Ok, it's a very easy task but... I cannot find them!!! Cities of Intuition are overpopulated by Mektoub, Yubos, Slaveni, but it took me 45 minutes to find a Ragu.
When I've found the Javing (still 1 hour walking around) it one-shotted me. Obviously no one was around for a res. How well, that was so frustrating... walking around for hours and being suddenly istant-killed doesnt exactly match my definition of "fun".
Ok, I've thought quest could be for parties, so I started a lonely mektoub farming.
3) To conclude, today I entered the game and:
- My character was naked.
- All my equipment is gone.
- My HP are 150 instead of 280
- My Sap is 200 instead of 345
- My Stam is 100 istead of 200 and it doesn't regenerate.
- My Focus is 0 and it doesn't regenerate.
- The shortcuts bar is empty.

Well, I'm on holidays and I'm a patient guy... so I've sent a ticket to the customer support. The GM was very kind but he told me he cannot refund my equipment, he cannot give me money, he cannot fix my stats. All he said is "don't use you main character". Main character? This is not my "main" character, this is just the only character I have!
So I have to create another character and go back to the Ruins of Silan because my buggy Zorai can't harvest and can't fight.

I'm so frustrated I've cancelled my subscription right now. :(

I am sorry to see you go, I am new too and if you are still around and want some help PLease send me a tell. Do to this you type /tell Kaarina (in the chat window in game) I will be glad to help you

If we happen to not be in the same starting town I know there are alot of players who would be glad to help you ....

PS when you die there should be a window that pops up and it will let you select the location you want to respawn in (incase none are around to res)... You will not drop armor or loose anything when you die. You will have to work off some death points but those are not hard to work off

I am sorry you had a bad experence if you decide to give it a 2nd chance since you are already paid for the month...remeber to chat in Universe, region, or around...Or send out a Private messege via tell..
I refuse to get into a battle of wits with you, when you are obviously unarmed.[br][br]

Wow, this just sounds as the baddest of luck :( i myself have a totally other experience, even with a desolated Majestic Garden i managed to find my way.... i cant say what i can do to improve ur experience since it seems very troubeled from here.... asuming u talking about the Cho server, if u need some company send a /tell Mokdarion, since Fyros is the only other place i can visit besides Matis :P Otherwise try the server Aristople, thats way more crowded then Cho.

it sounds like you have had a lot of problems. For your equipment loss you should send in a support ticket and try to resolve the problem that way.

Ryzom is not a quest driven game. You don't get much reward for doing quests, and there really is no point unless you want to do some encylopedia rites and/or get more fame.

Unfortunately the Ruins of Silan does not show this about the game.

Sorry to see you go, hopefully you'll try the game again when GameForge have had a chance to develop for it.

yep, Zora is mostly empty. most ppl move out of q50 region fast.
2) This game has a very stupid quest system. I've accepted my first quest from the welcomer: I had to kill 2 Raugs and 2 Javings. Ok, it's a very easy task but... I cannot find them!!! Cities of Intuition are overpopulated by Mektoub, Yubos, Slaveni, but it took me 45 minutes to find a Ragu.
ahh, but exploration is fun ;-) not like other games, where you go out of town gates and then when you have quest to kill certain mobs, they spawn right infront of you untill you done.

btw, there is no quests in Ryzom. Silan tutorial missions are giving out xp and equipment to speed up your first leveling. there is not xp/equipment missions for mainland.
there is 12 rites that may considered as quests (item or stat reward too), but you can safely skip them for now.
3) To conclude, today I entered the game and:
sounds they have serious problem with char saves.
what server you play (Arispotle or Cho)? dont know if i should log in lol
All he said is "don't use you main character". Main character? This is not my "main" character, this is just the only character I have!
main char is char that you play most of the time. if you have only one char, then thats your main.

Hot Damn, you´ve realy had a streak of baad luck there :( *hugs*

Only thing I wonder about is that there should be no way to restore your char?
Normaly it´s possible to restore it to the last "autosave" so to say, wich happens about every five minutes... And if you loggout your char. is saved too, just look at the system Info. Strange indeed.

But as for being alone all was said earlier, Sad to see you go but I´m sure you´ll be able to overcome your frustration if you give it another try. Ryzom isn´t like any other game. If you want to you can read up on some specifics down there, click on "Dear Newbes, please read". I hope it helps you a bit. :)

Ouch!

Something must have happened with problems with saving...

As they said, no quests in Ryzom. I have found quite a few newcomers asking in region if anyone knows where to find "Igaruh Kothyui"(made up name). I just tell them that the missions in Ryzom after Silan are not the same. You only get a teensy bet of dapper, or a wee bit of fame. So then I always offer to group with them and start getting them in a team while I tour them and help explain what you can do in Ryzom.

And yes, Zora, and the entire Jungle, is very desolate. Nearly every Zorai moves to the desert as soon as possible, and nearly every Matis gets to desert as fast as possible. So it ends up being that the desert is where everyone is. I am a Zorai too and I wish people would inhabit our homelands!

So, if you are still around, please!! send Zandryok a tell! I will try to help you anyway I can, starting with a team, and then a trek to the desert(though you may not want it, I trek a little "dangerously"). Please don't give up on Ryzom, give it a second chance!

Hope to see you on Atys soon!

I feel your pain, last saturday all my things were reset(except stats) I lost everything I owned, my action bars were reset, and I lost my excess skill points. As soon as the devs have time, I believe I am getting a rollback to saturday. But I was too stupid and levelled my char anyway. So I'll be behind a bit. I've seen a few other people this has happened to in the last week. We deserve medals!

This bug on the character saves is a known issue that appeared very recently. We're working on it to sort you out asap. We are sorry for the inconvenience this is causing.

And yup, you deserve medals for your patience!

You happend to pick one of the missions in Zora that really require you to know the land. :(
The lower level ragus and javings are limited in a small area and their spawn depends on several things, one of them is the season. There are some places you can always find them, but they are as far away from Zora as you can get and high level (40+ I think).

And you are right, yuboes etc. are everywhere, but that is probably because CoI (Cities of Intuition) is one of the most peaceful and safe regions you can find. :)
