New player, some questions

Post by jezvin »

I just recently downloaded the trial and maxed out my magic and fighter (I’m not big in crafting) I have liked it alot so far.

1. I am wondering about the population of the game, reading a lot of stuff seems like the game might be dying but I’m not sure, there seemed to be a good amount of people in the trial. I generally like to join PUGs and meet a lot of different people while playing, is there enough people on the mainland that PUGs are easy to find?

2. also I’ve heard there is no real end game, which sounds like there is nothing else to do besides lvl and pvp. what else is there to do when I want a break from lvling or im too low to PVP? Is the ring thing usable at any lvl to create content or would I have to get near 250 in a skill to use it?

I do plan to join a guild eventually, I’m a huge fan of PVP my first mmo was DAOC so faction/guild battles interest me a lot.
lvling is a big part of the game also I usually run as a healer or tank type of char so a group is usually necessary.

Thanks, I love the open-ended idea of this game and I hope it is what I’m looking for.

I am also relatively new, and I'm not quite sure what you mean by PUG, but a large part of Ryzom is PvE (Player versus Environment). You seem to be combat oriented. From what I have seen the Kitin are worthy opponents and worth your consideration.

For myself, I am focusing on fighting skills and on harvesting. The skill of bringing useful materials to the surface of the Living World and utilizing the bounty of Atys fascinates me. The creatures who may attack while I am doing so deserve the edge of my blade.

Welcome.

PUG : pick up group.
another wow'er , huh ? :D

well, there s areas where you can pug easily, and often, when you solo a spot there's a chance that someone on the same place ask if you want to team.
game is not dying, imo, but, as the ML is huge, people are scattered all around, and sometimes some area look empty, and 2 hours later, you're strugglin with 2 other group to find a spot lol

Welcome to the Giant RootBall! As for population Klaelfr summed it up nicely. The ML is Huge, and yes often times we are scatterd about. But stick around long nuff and you wont find room to breath at times.

There can be lots to do when your bored, if you look in the right places. Near as I can tell you dont have to be 250 to make good things from the Ring. Being 250 just means you have more options avalible,(i think im reading the ring materials right). There are also alot of RP'rs out there who try to get events going and what not that many participate in (though it slowed down a bit recently when we weren't sure what would happen with Ryzom).

Alot of Guilds participate in PvP from what Ive seen. Look around and particuarly here to get an idea.

Enjoy and hope to see you on the Mainland

For full access to all of the Ring tools you don't need to have earned a single level, you just have to visited all of the town spawns and inter-region portals on Atys mainland. Such a widely travelled homin, it's hoped, should have enough knowledge of the world to be able to make a fitting scenario.

Welcome to Atys :) *hugs*
