A newby question about harvesting

Post by odofitzg »

I just got started and I'm in beginnerland (naturally) and I have the quest to harvest three different materials of quality 20. I have both Harmful 20 and Gentle20, but I can't seem to get anything out of the ground at a higher quality level than 10.

Is this a matter of the nature of the deposits? Even if I'm extracting Fine material I don't get higher than Q10.

If this is not the appropriate forum, or if there is a "beginner's guide", just point me to where the resources or proper forum is.

I'm enjoying the game greatly and hoping that a good company is found to take over from Neverax.

hmmm I thought that might be the case. Any suggestions? I went out to the west of the Ranger camp but so far, nothing. How do you tell if the qual is high?

Hummm... sounds to me as if it might be possible that you got the q20 stanzas, but still the q10 ones are in effect (which is hard to tell because typically the icon is the same).

If you extract by double clicking, you automatically use the first available stanza in hands bar 1, no matter if you had a better stanza set up somewhere else.

you might want to reduce the nr. of your extract stanzas down to one... that way you know for a fact its the one youre using :)

oh, and the max quality of the node youre digging is displayed in your Sysinfo chat window ;)

Yeah youre probably using your q10 extraction, as opposed to the q20s you got from the trainers.

If you right click on your dig action you can look at its stanza, and edit it to q20 if its currently q10.

To be sure, go to the zone "Ruins of Silan". That is a q20 zon, and there you'll be able to harvest q20 materials.

When you get the message "You are leaving hunting grounds" and "You are enternig Ruins of Silan" will be enough.

Thank you to all who responded. You were all very helpful.

martl:
I'll check out the sysinfo window, thanks. I hadn't noticed.

martl, rundll32:
I _am_ using the q20 extractions. I triple checked that, I made new actions and named them with my own names. On the other hand that was a good suggestion.

mithur: Thanks for the pointing in direction

ffxjosh: I haven't clicked on it yet, but thanks for the link.

You can find materials up to ql 35 or so depending how far west you go on the starter lands.

In addition to having extraction capable of getting ql 20 and a patch of ground holding up to at least ql 20 (I have my sys window separate for much useful info that appears there) you have to be able to maintain the extraction long enough to get to ql 20. So be careful not to gas yourself or blow yourself up!

If you go to the Ruins area, be careful around Yelk hill....people hunting Yelk there are usually fear kiting the Yelks while killing them with spells, and sometimes have little control over where the Yelk dies, and they go off in a cloud of poison gas. Many a harvester fell victim to this while I was hunting for materials out there. (West side of Yelk hill is source of some of the materials for one of the harvesting quests.)

All materials around the begining camp are q10.

You see hills in map, there is q15 or was it q20's.

You look map and see water, there is higher quality materials. If You go the water place, there is island. Then run around the island coast, You see in other side of the water this tunnel. You find there q40+ stuff..
