Ryzom you say, eh ? wh..

Post by elp5775e »

So, im looking forward to this amazing game.
atm im at 27% of the client wich i dl at fileplanet, hope it helps cos this is my third try, and if this wont suceed, ill have to try another game. bad loser, i know :/

okay, anyway, i got some questions:

HOW MANY LVL'S ARE THERE ?
-Is it easy to lvl ?
-How does the lvl system actually work ? Do you get points for lvling ? Items ? gold / money ? Fame ? exp ?

HOW DOES THE PVP SYSTEM WORK ?
-Are there areas where you only pvp fight ?
-How do you pvp fight ? is it only duel ( 1 vs 1 ) or is it massive fights between the two factions ?

ARE THERE ANY TRANSPORT ?
-Mounts ?
-Trains ?
-speed magic, speed drink etc ?

I KNOW THE RACES, BUT WHAT ABOUT THE PROFFESIONS ?
- as seen at the offical page, there are 4 races, but what about the proffesions ? Mage / elemantelist / Sourcerer / Corrupter, Warrior / beserker / guardien / paladin, Priest / monk / healer / protector.

ARE THERE ANY JOBS / CAREERES ?
- Fishing, Killing spc.mobs, alchemist, Leatherworker, miner, trainer, doctor / helper / medic, engineer ?

I guess thats it. ill post when i have more questions.

If it can handle WoW (which, by your questions, I can tell that you play!), then it can handle Ryzom. I think you must have a specific, probably fixable, technical problem if you can't play, rather than just being under-spec. Maybe someone here could help you with that if you explained exactly what was going wrong?

sorry to disapoint you, nephy, but i dont play WoW XD. Well, i played some months and got alot of experience with it, but..yeah.

Recommended Specs

Intel Pentium 4 2 GHz or equivalent
1024 MB system RAM (1 GB paging file)
5 GB disk space
4x CD-ROM
Broadband internet connection
DX8.1 compliant sound
128 MB GeForce 4 or Radeon 9700 or better AGP video

I only got 700-something RAM
and a 9200 ATI RADEON videocard.

Ehhhh! Wrong answer. WoW is low tech and really does not use that much in the way of system resources. It is first generation MMO implementation. That way it will run on pretty well any PC made since the turn of the century. One of the secrets of it's widespread adoption - it delivers to lowest common denominator for player hardware.

Ryzom on the other hand is very hardware intensive and will find any weakness in your system.

I have one older machine 1gig processor (pent 3) 512mb ram (cos its max the board can hold) and ge-force 5200 and ryzom will run, you cant rush the mouse but it is perfectly playable.

Are you sure, norvic ?
I could run WoW, yes, but in big cities i couldent move cos of the lag. Sometimes i got errors, that was windows errors, but i dont think it had much to do with the game.

I havent closed the download yet, so im crossing my finger that i will work.

EDIT: I once knew a command in the "run" thing down at the "start" menu, that if you typed something like..damn..I know it had something with an "divx" in it, and then a box would pop up with my system info.

Sure TPing into somwhere like Fairhaven is not smooth and fast but it does run and is usable, its the machine i used for my first 6 months or so on Atys.

My main machines now are higher spec but my old girl can still just about cope, dunno about an Outpost battle or giving the best game experience but it will run so I would give it a go.

If it doesnt work out all you lose is some download time :)

Well, if you can't run WoW to your satisfaction (It is slightly older and not quite as prettified), then you can hardly expect to run Ryzom really. Sorry if I made an assumption that you could run WoW based on your comments. Personally, I found 512MB and GeForce4MX to be "playable" in WoW, though I did upgrade both eventually in order to improve load speeds and to be able to max out the graphics settings, respectively. WoW suggests a minimum of a GeForce 2 and recommends a GeForce FX5700, looking on the back of an old WoW box. From this, Ryzom actually recommends an older graphics card, though admittedly Ryzom's processor and memory recommendations are higher!

I'm sorry, but I assumed that like WoW, Ryzom would be pretty easy to run if you turned all the graphics options off. I've actually only run it on a pretty beefy machine myself. Certainly in a situation with all graphics options turned to maximum (as opposed to minimum playable quality), then I would have assumed that the game could require a significantly higher spec than WoW.
