There may be problems with the video card? what card is it?

If the video card is working ok try switching to OpenGL from Direct X in ryzom configuration or vice versa. :)

Do you have either processor or graphics cards overclocked? I know if you OC too hard you can start to have odd video artifacts.

Maybe the display is somehow "broken". Squiggly Pixels might as well be an hardware issue. Remember those displays are liquid crystal.

Hope it works out for you :)

Had these 'artifacts' my self not too long ago, caused all sorts of worsening problems, from blocky flashes of colour, to the PC eventually crashing. Made game play impossible in the end.
Turned out after trying lots of different things, that it was the gfx card, which luckily for me was still under warranty, but only just.

GFX issues while gaming on a laptop? My first guess would be heat; check the temp on both CPU and graphic chip....

Video chip is starting to die due to inadequate cooling.
Just lost my laptop due the same issue.

Graphics issue? To determine whether it is hardware or not take a screenshot of the problem. View that screenshot on another computer and if you do not see the same squirrely corruption then you know, near as dammit, that you have a hardware problem. Oh, hide nuts and any traces first ;)

I think Zerlins right on this one..
Definatley smacks of a cooling issue..
I would take you laptop in to get the Graphics cards fan / exhaust checked out.. do it quick and you may be able to reverse the effect!
