Ah, the game has been at that spot before, shortly after release when some players voted there, then the <insert other game here> fans came and voted it down to spot 10 or so, now someone posted on these boards a few days ago to visit http://www.mmorpg.com and to vote thus it's at spot No. 1 again - in a few days the <insert other game here> fans will vote it down again, then someone will post here to go and vote ... that's just how things are with MMOGs.

No offense meant but I am fine with SoR having no more lag issues and being #100 somehwere than the other way round.

Not a single SoR player does profit from a good standing on this board - but at the moment playing is once more enjoyable and I hope it stays THAT way for a long time.

While I agree that to me (and many others it seems) it doesn't matter where Ryzom is in the mmorpg.com ratings, the thing to remember is that this game is nowhere near as widely known as things like WoW and EQ2, so it is actually a very good thing for Ryzom to be top of a list like this, as the game gets exposure to people who may otherwise have not heard of it.

It may also be that some people will perhaps try out the game while waiting for other games, decide they like it and stay.

I personally don't believe this game will ever have the number of subscribers the likes of EQ2 will have, but I do strongly believe that the accounts for Ryzom will be active ones. I see a lot of games that boast they have X number of accounts, but that doesn't mean that's how many people play the game. A lot of people created beta accounts. I know that FilePlanet listed some 160,000 downloads of the beta client, but I'm sure there aren't 160,000 people playing this game.

It's important for a 'smaller' game like Ryzom to get all the press it can, so while we may not particularly care where the game stands in rankings, it's still a very good thing in the long run.

MMORPG.com's voting is a joke. If a game over takes a groups own game, they vote it down en masse, and then other votes them down, its pretty pointless really. Just a bunch of kids wanting to rig the votes.
