A spiritual fyros in search of a home

Post by spoloh »

Greetings, dear compatroiots, respected neutrals and ye mighty (but sadly misguided) karavaneers,
A newly-arrived fyros refugee hails ye

I come by the name of Spolloh (meaning "tongue of flame") in my native language.

Infatuated with this land I had no other choice but to stay and call it home.
Now the only thing I am looking for is a family - a community of brothers in arms united by spiritual bonds.

OOC/ I am a 28 year old pretty mature :) eastern european player GMT+3. And I am looking for a kami guild with friendly (family-like) people. I do RP quite a bit but only when it is appropriate and it is absolutley unnecessary for a guild to have any RP at all. I am accustomed to being the only "spice" in the guild chat :P I am not much into PvP and will only do the healing job when it happens.

I am looking for a guild with a normal hierarchy (no democratic BS please), a guild where people can just chat from time to time and not turn themselves into Uber lvling automatons. I am looking for a guild that has a background (either historical or RP one (does not necessarily have to be an old guild)) Some RP would be very much appreciated allthough not necessary. And I promise to tire you all with a lot of talking before I finally make my choice (no guild hopping planned so it's gonna be a serious decision).

I am pretty good in talking, psychology, doing the ambassador and diplomatic work. That is the role I played in other MMORPGs. I can also write stories and poetry (songs), needed for the RP reasons (if needed that is :P )/OOC

Open to all suggestions,
I remain

Respectfully your,
Spolloh

May the desert winds cradle you in their loving embrace...

Sounds like you might suit us.
We're neutral, so not particularly bound up in the faction war.
We do have guild meetings which occasionally come down to votes on big long term issues but Kos is the boss and her and the high officers deal with most things as a benevolent dictatorship when needed :)
We do RP to varying amounts depending on mood and who's on, but we don't pressurise people to do so and we deed swich in and out at random, so we are an RP guild (mostly in around chat) but not 'hardcore' about it.
We do have a fairly rich guild history which is going to be expanded on through the ring.
Poetry and songs would be cool :)
We're mercenaries so involving yourself in PvP is optional and we really only do it when we're paid to, we even sold off an outpost in order to escape too much of it, we're primarily an RP/social guild and very much try to be a family (families are actually worse since you can't pick and choose family ;) )

Give Kostika or Jyudas or Slythe a /tell in game.

One thing to mention is that we do make new people do a bootcamp.

Well as nice a bunch of folks as the Samsara are, they're neutral so don't really fit your "Kami guild" requirments - I'd suggest you give Apostles a call (talk to Jackoba or Tyilin) but they don't really RP much and would probably be counted as a "PvP guild"... another option would be Atys Paladins - not so PvP oriented but not vastly RP either I don't think; sadly there's not many Kami RP guilds.

If you're happy to lose the Kami requirement and go (stay) neutral then I'd suggest the Order of the Dragonblades or the Samsara.

I am grateful to all of you for sharing your knowledge with me.

I would indeed prefer a kami guild (Though I did think about neutral ones and have considered Samsara and the honorable Dragonblades). However as for the reknown Samsara, their hero-for-hire approach is not exactly my idea of an RP stance...

As I wrote above it is not necessary for a guild to have any RP whatsoever.
It would be really nice to hear a bit from the Apostles and the Atys Paladins aswell...

The apostles would welcome you my friend.

A little about our guild for you.

We are a newish guild with 15 very active members most of which are pretty hardcore players. We dont have a ruleset where we require you to do anything but what you want and the offiicers/higher officer/leader (me) see their only job as facilitating your fun. We will do our best to provide you with top notch equipment and give you the benefit of our experience in the game as a whole.

We dont RP in a typical sense other than occasionaly when we are spreading the good word of the kami. We do PvP although you would not be forced to participate if PvP is not your thing. Our major goals you will learn if you speak to myself or tyilin in game.

one emphasis we do have within the guild is you must play by the game rules and not cause grief for other players. Our enemies might be numerous but essentially they are players who are logging on to have fun too, thats not however to say we wont kill them on sight if we choose.

if you wish to hear a little more contact me in game and I will do my best to answer your questions.

Wait... there's an _honourable_ guild called The Dragonblades as well? Won't that get confusing?

Ziiiiiing!

Mylord Grimjim, to put things in a blant way... being a mercenary you might have a slightly different perspective of honour than some other people (me for example).

I am a but a refugee in this magnificent land but still am I not entitled to an opinion of my own? So by saying _honourable_ Dragonblades I meant just what I said.

It'd be pretty inaccurate though unless honour is more of a relative concept than I was previously aware of.

There can be honour in being a mercenary, honouring ones contracts despite attempts by other sides to outbid after a deal has been done. Choosing to fight even for a side or people you have disdain for because that is the path you have chosen or, alternatively, not taking a contract because you don't beleive in the goal. Waiving the fee for the poor or downtrodden, trying to balance the factions so all sides viewpoints remain valid and so forth. Not that we necessarily do all these things as a group, but we're a guild of individuals.

Even choosing not to follow a faction is an act of honour, considering the nature of the offered sides and their shifty ways, placing hominity first over the twisted religious dogma of false gods and making the requisite sacrifices is very honourable.

There's more to honour than an, apparently interpretable, chivalric code.

(OOC: Consider the honourable actions of the fictional A-Team - mercenaries - as opposed to the terrible actions of 'honourable' knights during the Crusades. One can also see examples of honourable mercenaries in the Swiss Guards and, despite technicalities, the French and Spanish Foreign Legions and the Gurkhas not to mention the International Guard during the Spanish Civil War, the FNLA in Angola and others. Achilles' Myrmidons are sometimes considered mercenaries and for, other, fictional examples one can look to the Mercenary companies of Iron Kingdoms, the Dorsai, Battletech and others for honourable examples. The final point of all of this being that it is rather simplistic to consider mercenaries dishonourable purely because they fight for cash).
