Pike/Mace; help me plz

I just can't decide. Some people say mace, other say pike and other others say play what you like. Well and that is the problem... I like them both.

I reached 2 handed melee 101 tonight so now i have to make a choice.

The mace is slow but deals good damage. It's slow ability helpes getting less damaged when you use it on your target.

The pike is slightly faster and has medium damage. I killed many creatures in the forests of Verdant Heights and haven't seen much difference with and without using the ignore armor skill.

Most of the times when i fight with my pike i switch to mace when i feel i will not make it. I own a nice q120 matis pike and the awesome q120 Zorai mace.

Which do you think is best to use if you cannot decide for yourself. What benefits most as a melee warrior who just wants to be a tank. As i am now only lvl 101, what do i get more when i reach 200 or more?

Help me please. I can't decide and therefore i don't fight. All i do is harvesting now.

I personally prefer pikes. They're faster and do medium dmg. The ignore armour comes in well handy in PvP and against different creatures. Pikes are also superior in using circle attack due to its long reach.

I'm a mace user myself. 225 (which is pain to get when you hate melee btw). I've found that one some thing mace is more useful than other weapons-and if you can get a good crafter, you can do good damage. But a mace isn't very good in PvP. Against mages, it's slow, so they dodge easier, and against melee-well, it's easy to get smashing protection on heavy armor. I picked two-handed mace because not many people, in my opinion, have that as their main melee. When I picked the type of weapon to use, I picked mace I did so because everywhere I went it seemed I saw Pikeman over someone's head. The only real "extra" thing you can use here is Slow I believe (not ingame so I cannot check).

My Pike skill, is at 125 or so. Granted, I like the animations with pike-the flipping etc. And Pike is more useful in PvP, I think. With Pike you get, ignore armor, faster hitting, and decent. With faster hitting at a good damage, you can still make up for the powerful slower damage of mace. So, one could say, Mace and Pike are similar when you put both speed and damage in there?

It's really what you like best. Electric Zorai Maces helped me to decide on mace. I love it, it's so prettiful I believe that a pike has the Matis living pike?

Finding a high level crafter for your choice weapon is also helpful in deciding. It used to be that I only knew 1 high level mace crafter, but it would seem that quite a few kami-neutral mace crafters are popping up (not sure about kara mace crafters). (I wont say names as I'm not sure they want publicity). I know there are a lot of kara pike crafters (not sure if they craft for other factions or not).

I like mace more

When you create stanza to mace you only need to add increase damage and accurate attack what gives more credits to you. With pike you always need to add ignore armor to every hit what makes hits cost a lot and if used with circular then they cost enormous amount credits to be effective. You can add the maces slow effect stanza to after dodge/parry/critical what is enough to get mob slowed most of the time.

ok heres the deal with 2h weapons..

Axes and Mace are the same speed (max 27hpm i believe) and deal the same damage (erm 607 at 250 at a guess?? pls correct if im wrong).. only diffrence is that Axe has bleed where as Mace has slow.
Both are good against mobs and good mage killers in PvP .. but not so hot against a target in HA.

Swords are a bit faster (max speed 30Hpm) and do a little less damage (550 ish at 250 max) they have an added bonus of giving you a damn good parry modifier as well if crafted right. they also use bleed like axes.
This is an excellent all round weapon and will serve well against most targets. Mages and Mobs. Again not so hot in PVP with HA wearers.

Pike is the fastest at 33Hpm but also the weakest damage dealer.
(not got the max dam stat for a 250 pike in my head atm .. anyone enlighten us?)
I would go out on a limb and say about 480 ish.
Well pikes are ok on most mobs .. but not brilliant to be honest when compared to a sword or axe or mace.. where they do excell is in PvP against HA wearers. the ignore armour stanza can shread them and you will be reagarded as a powerful anti melee tool and protector of your healers in an outpost battle.

Personally I would Lvl 2 weapons Pike for PvP and one of the others for Mobs

2H weapon Q250 Max stats (not boosted):

Mace/Axe- 27 speed, 662 damage
(17874 damage per minute)

Sword - 30 speed, 552
(16560 damage per minute)

Pike - 33 speed, 441 damage
(14553 damage per minute)


So Mace will do 23% more damage with 20% less stamina cost than a Pike against an unarmored opponent.

Pike Ignore Armor makes it more versatile though against the many armored threats you will face.

Here is another small point to consider. Pikes are crafted with no counterweights. The lack of counterweights makes pikes much harder to craft with max damage, max speed and high parry. Hence, I believe that one can get better stats on high-end maces than on high-end pikes.

I'm not implying that 3 or 4 more parry would compensate for the advantages of ignore armor, though.

Another point about pikes.

Pikes do piercing dmg. I have yet to find anything highly resistant to piercing, unlike smashing and slashing dmg. (not to say there isn't something highly resistant to piercing, but I haven't found a creature yet that is)
