So i'm a big pvp fan. In fact, that would be the number 1 reason for me joining or leaving a game. It takes a lot of content and things to do to keep me distracted. To me, i love pvp because it means that at anytime when i'm "finished leveling", i still have stuff to do. I know in this game you are almost never "finished leveling" but i still love pvp.
Anyway, the question, how big is pvp in this game? I know that guilds have to hold outpost, but do guilds start wars? I'm guild A, and guild B attacked our city. To show them, we will start attacking their outposts. And thus, a 1000 year war is started. Does this happen? So far all i have heard is that pvp is kind of the joke topic.
second question, not so much pvp, is how often do these dev ran events happen? and how do you find out about them? I heard it varies, but varies between what? daily and once a year? then i heard it was between 1 week and 1 month. Which is cool to me. Just how do you hear about them and are those numbers correct?
Thanks

Question on PVP
Re: Question on PVP
Genrally there is as much pvp as you want to go looking for, if you turn up at a karavan city (if your kami) and start attacking people your gunna have a ton of people hunting you down within a few mins, at the same time if you dont want PvP you can avoid it all together, there is also outpost pvp which is normally every two weeks (althought depends on how agressive people are feeling) this is a two hour slot of mindless violence against the people attacking you.
As for dev run events theres normally one every week or two, they are normally not pvp based tho, some player take it apon themselves to create PvP events tho, battles to prove who is the biggest and best
hope that helps
and welcome to atys

Re: Question on PVP
Wow, that makes a lot of sense and helps out a lot. Now for this pvp looking for... does that means i can (if i'm mean) do a hit and run on people when i want to? that sounds awesome.
This raises the next question though, how complex is pvp? is it just, target and spam keys and he who gets lucky wins? or is it actually some strategy in it? I'm only level 20 melee so i'm not sure what upper end people do.

pvp is on an optional system (at the moment) you can attack those who want to be pvp enabled at any time, if their afk, digging, crafting or nakedgmoff wrote:Wow, that makes a lot of sense and helps out a lot. a well used tactic is hidding behind ykr stables and nuking people with the hope they cant target you untill their all dead (sneaky tactics help)
You can pvp at any lvl as long as you have enough fame to declear yourself either kami or karavan, the majority of pvpers will use elemental because you can easilly change to heal if needed, altho meleers in larger groups or solo are more effective, pvp in ryzom isnt a simple thing

Re: Question on PVP
I thougt if you joined a guild who was like owning an outpost, and is pvp enabled, everyone in that guild is? this is on an individual level? what is to keep you from just disabling it, then eneabling it, kill someone and just disable it again.
I understand the fact that people that don't want to pvp can wait until they are ready, but when you enable it are you forever flagged as a pvper, or how does this optional work?

Re: Question on PVP
Outpost PvP only happens when an outpost is attacked. When you enter an area where an Outpost (OP) is under attack, then you can choose between Attack, Defend, or Neutral. That lasts as long as you stay within the OP area, and, I think, 30 seconds after you leave the area. I could be wrong on the timer though, it's been a while since I've been in an OP battle.
No one is FORCED to be flagged, which is good. For example, the guild I belong to owns an OP. If it were attacked, and for some reason I chose not to go help defend it (which I would, of course) then I would not be flagged. ONLY if I went into the area where the OP was, would I become a Defender, and become attackable to Attackers.
That help?

Re: Question on PVP
If you disable PvP Flag its got a "cooldown" of serveral Minutes, so there´s no easy On/Off Switching, because you´ll be flagged some for time more even if you´ve switched it off. And people can take revenge on you for ganking, wich btw isn´t held in very high regard heregmoff wrote:I thougt if you joined a guild who was like owning an outpost, and is pvp enabled, everyone in that guild is? this is on an individual level? what is to keep you from just disabling it, then eneabling it, kill someone and just disable it again.

I don´t do it, so I don´t know the exact amount of time.

3 types of PvP in Ryzom.
1. optional Tag (Kami or Karavan) Faction based. Fame affects
2.OP Related (choice of attack v defend, ) Fame doesnt have an effect
3. PvP enabled areas, such as pr. Anyone can be attacked in that area

Re: Question on PVP
This is all extremely helpful and giving this game lots of hope for me. Last thing about pvp though is...
in order to get the prime teleport spots, you need to be signed up with kami or the other guys. And then this will flag you? so people who want these prime jump locations are always pvp enabled?
from what i'm reading it seems like that is the case, which i like. If you want the good jump locations, you need to always be pvp enabled.

Nope you have to have to decalare yourself a faction such as Kami Or Karavan. So there are 2 types of TP, one which is kami the other which is karavan.
Being Tagged is optional once you declare your faction. Fame is what is needed to declare a faction.
Tp's are fame related. Prime Roots teleports for example you would need 60fame.
