The evil Delete button

Post by than21 »

Please for the love god and all that is holy, move the evil delete button away from the play button, and add something like haveing to type "y", "E", "S", to delete your char. I just woke up this morning, and without thinking clicked on the delete button and not the play button and then without reading the msg box, i clicked on the lower button, which everyone know on every game made ever is always a cencel button, but it seems it was the delete button, now i have lost my char forever. Please do something to make deleteing just a bit harder next time so this doesn't happen to other people.

i agree, that button is way to close to the real button you usually use. i've accidently clicked it many times, but never deleted my char. just makes me feel uneasy.

and its usually half buried in the bottom task bar since the silly game window is screwed till you get right into the game.
Everytime I go into the game I have to change resolution back to 1024*768 and then switch to my higher res :(
Guess one day they will fix all these window bugs but I aint holding my breath.

I would like to support this request. The harder you make it to delete someone's 1000+ hours of work in developing a character in your game, the easier you make it to keep paying customers in it.

Someone close to me once accidentally deleted their own 6 year old character in another game. The aftermath of that wasn't pretty... in fact I thought for a short time we might have to do some suicide prevention measures.

And even after a whole lot of extensive work to help rebuild that character, including many offers of help from friends, eventually my friend left that game, forever.

Honestly, it's in your best interests to make it nearly impossible to unintentionally delete a character. After all, how many people are going to quit your game because it's too difficult to delete a character?

Kamagi - Open your Ryzom Configuration utility in Programs. Click on Display. Now force your vidcard to run Direct3d instead of the default Auto. Not only should this fix your problem with having to reset your resolution each time you log on, but for me this also fixed shadows.

have you tried to contact CS to get your char restored?

I did delete my main char at another MMOG and they managed to restore it even though there was a new one with the same name (someone took the name to make sure noone else could take it and I could get mine back .. he deleted his Lvl1 char when i returned)

The button has been a topic of in our "Wishlist". I actually agree with you all on this one, I've deleted a few characters myself by accident :) Let's see what the devs come up with.
