Fastest homin in the west?

Post by kiexa »

We all know the world of Atys is huge, and I challenge every homin out there to travel through the known parts in the quickest time. You may use mounts, dont forget to pitstop strategically at towns along the way.

basic rules:

you must start at one of the four capitals
herectics hovel must be undertaken
you must pass through each capital
the finish time is when you reach the part of the town where you set off
you must be honest
the winner must have a couple hours free Thursday night
time`s submitted to the closest 30 seconds (eg 1 hr 03 min 30 secs)
the management are not responsible for mount death, dp or loss of HA vests

post your details underneath (name of rider and name of mount + time taken)
are you up for the challenge? Fastest homin on Atys presentation takes place on Thursday night 10pm GMT, where he/she is presented with a small gift, and winning mount rewarded in free feed for a week.

After the presentation, all competitors with their mounts invited to recreate the winning run (lag, dp and fun guarenteed) for all attendees to follow, the starting location will be that of the iniatial start location of fastest homin in the west

bonus: first person to post thier time/mount name/homin name receives a small gift also (to get the ball rolling), and if a time faster than you own, is already lised here, please list it anyway, for research purposes an average time will be taken. Last legitiamate time taken Thursday 8 pm GMT

should there be a draw, two prizes will be awarded

Good luck homins !
<this is a player run event, any conflict will be resolved by the management>
more details to follow soon tm

EDIT: GONNA HAVE TO MOVE THIS TO THURSDAY NIGHT, SORRY

I trekked to all 3 capitols (obviously started at my own, so all 4)

Solo.

On foot.

Thru Underspring and Trench of Trials (didn't know about the portal from Desert to Zora...oops)

At 110 melee level.

With no deaths, until trying to get to Trykerville...which is a downright nasty trek coming from any direction (wound up having to go thru PR, cause I could not make it thru Heretic's Hovel alive)

Time: 6-8 hours, approx

Do I get a consolation prize? *grins*

<IC>

Once news had reached me about this long distance race I was excited. Constance and I had proven ourselves in the short course around Pyr and we were looking for a fresh challenge. This seemed the opportune time to as I had began to lose interests in the short course and had started to condition Constance for the longer treks as they had proved to be where the dappers were.

Constance was my first mount. I brought her off a good friend of mine while she was a still a pup, she was by no means a pedigree and many homins said that she was too restless and ill behaved, as most desert mounts are. Though, after many years of hard work she became a mount to be so very proud of.

Not long ago I decided to train her to become a better swimmer for this round atys race. She had done some swimming before but the lake in dyron looks more like a puddle when u compare it to the vast sea that surrounds Fairhaven. I took Constance to Fairhaven where we began to work on her technique. I had employed some of the very finest tryker mount trains to help both of us get used to long distances while in water. We had been working hard at it for a long time and I felt that we were ready to participate in this race.

So. Last night I purchased a large amount of fodder for her and we set off from Yrkanis. Things were going very well. We reached Hidden source in a quicker time than I had anticipated and were storming through the desert. Constance looked very much at home by the time we reached Dyron and we both felt like we could push harder and faster. We reached Zora in a lighting quick time and were soon headed off into the prime routes. This is where things became tricky.

Not long after reaching the roots we were attacked by a pack of Tryancha who had obviously not had much yelk meat for a while. Although we both managed to escape from any mortal wounding we were both quite worn out by the time we reached Liberty Lake. Constance looked to be in some discomfort but continued on at a brave pace. She was swimming her heart out.

We could see the sights of Fairhaven in the distance, the lights coming from the city were like fireflies and the faint smell of the tryker brews tingled my nostrils. Suddenly Constance stopped throwing me from on top of her. I was thrown right over her trunk and half twisting in the air, landing on my back. Constance was struggling, in a state of panic. Her hind left leg was caught in some weeds and she couldn’t move. I sawn over to her to try and calm her. I was lucky enough to be able to remove my dagger from her side pouch. I attempted to dive, underneath her and cut the weeds that were caught on her leg but she was kicking so violently that it made this task almost impossible. I tried I vain for at what seemed an eternity to free my beloved mount. Swimming under her and wailing my arms towards the direction of her captor. Time seemed to stand still, I was so worn lying on my back I felt dizzy and then, silence.

'Silence?!' I though to myself. Realising that I could no longer hear Constance struggle to break free from the weeds that held her captive. This woke me from my 'dream' state and I drew every last bit of energy that I held in my body to stay awake. I turned over my shoulder to face Constance, her face. She was, she was so scared. I slowly swam over to her and held her face above the water praying that someone would perhaps see us. I stared into her eyes as a tear fell from my mask. As I began to drift in and out of consciousness I thought I could hear a very loud noise. Like a very large breeze, but unable to stay awake I drifted, and eventually blacked out.

The next thing I remember is being woken up by an inquisitive tryker, I was laying on the shore, I presumed that I had washed up on the beach, It was not day and the sun was bright and warm on my face, with a breeze that complimented the heat. Suddenly a hand was extended in front of my face. I knew straight away who it was. The black leather type material that was glistening in the sun was all too familiar. I lent forward to sit up and I got a clearer view of wearer of this glove. It was a member of the Karavan. Pulled me up to my feet and pointed me in the direction of the Fairhaven Karavan welcomer. The Welcomer explained that they had been conducting research into to how the water could provide and extra power supply as well as the windmills up and around the cities when they saw me and Constance in the distance. The hurried over and found Constance and myself drifting in the water.

My immediate reaction was to ask of the health of Constance where I was pointed towards the stable. I was being led to the back rooms and opened a door for me. It was a dark room with a window shining light directly into the centre of the room, I stepped in slowly and once my eyes we adjusted to the light I could see her there, Constance was gently resting in the corner of her room. Her legs were bandaged heavily and she was obviously in some discomfort. The stable boy walked up behind me and place a hand on my back (which was quite a stretch for such a tryker) and explained that it would be some time before she would be able to stand, and there was a smile chance that she would race again. I was not concerted about that, I was just happy to see her alive.

Until both Constance and I feel confident enough to race I will not compete in any race. I am sorry but I am unable to post a time on these boards.

Unfortunately, I have had to re-install Ryzom. Probably wont be able to race before tonight L

Maybe next time

1 hour 15 minutes, dead on. And only 4 bales of concentrated feed, so I guess slower really is greener :)
