Well after two weeks in Ryzom mainland I am now considering leaving. The truth is, I feel there are no place here for a Kami devouted pvper like myself.
Roughly two weeks ago me and 9 other friends who knew each other well took our first steps in to the mainland from Ruins, hopes were high for each of us, after all, game was rated top 5 in MMORPG back then, we all had a great time in newbie island and decided to subscribe and enter the big world.
No surprisngly our group was scattered, 4 of us started in zorai, 2 in fairheaven, 3 in yrk.
When we first got in to Zora the captial the first thing came over us was how little there were people around, but we waste no time and started collecting materials and hunting as a group of 2-4 (depends on how many were online). that night, with help of some friendly kami we were quickly on our feet, that night I was trekked to fairheaven, where I made contact with the 2 other players.
When it came to guild, we all had different ideas, some of us wanted to start our own newbie guild, while others wanted to join PvP or PvE oriented, as everyone had different views, we were eventually split up, I being the one who loves PvP, of course joined KoO. Rest of the 6 were scattered amongst Kami guilds, because the help we recived when we first joined(people like Faa or Zahan).
7 of us later got news that the other 2 joined karavan guilds, although we are in different guilds and factions, we still often got together and grinded regularly, as friends of course, but this is where we started to notice the difference in two factions.
The 2 karavan members of course had a constant supply of Cats, best supreme / exellent equipments, making their training much faster and easier, I of course being a KoO had no Cats after lvl 70(because loss of our outpost), but that didn't deter me from my pvp goal, in fact it made me even more determined to train to better my old pals, as result I have spent more time training with other people, made a lot more new friends in the process.
The grinding was slow, but the few OP battles during the week kept me focused on my goal, needless to say, Kamis lost all of them, (excpt the one where Karavan didn't show up)
During the training, 2 of my kami friends saw the advantage of being a Karavan and converted, 1 later left. 2 Weeks later, without help of any cats, I have became the highest lvl, (2h Axe lvl 220) I finally was put in the frontline for the outpost War to take KoO's outpost back, The attack was carefully, planned, everyone in the guild knew their role.
The attack however was a different story, with our best efforts even though the turn out was suppose to be good, Karavan still out numbered by a lot (as I have counted 72 to 35) in fact they out number us so much they can send groups of people(9-12) to attack us way from the outpost, and still have enough back at home to defend)
Now since there are no point for me to contiune OP pvp since there are no chance of winning. after all what is the point in participate in such a one sided battle? With another 2 Kami friend leaving the game because of it, (as well as another new guildy) I am now considering my position, I don't feel I am likely to contiune with this game.
So out of the 9 of us first entered the game, 2 joined up in the start, 2 joined later due to karavan advantage, 1 went inactive, and now including me 3 are leaving the game due to the imbalance, no doubt the future of atys is Karavan's, since starting as a kami has so many disadvantages over starting as a karavan.
Let me make this clear, I am leaving not because I could not access any Cats, If I got to lvl 220 without them, I don't need them to 250, not because we lost OP battle, because wining and losing is all just part of life, But because I feel that I have lost my motivation in the game, in my opinon following current trends there are just no way kami will pick up ever again.
I am not here because I hope to archive anything but just here to vent my fustration in the game. I will most likely be inactive for the last 2 weeks of my subscription then quitely fade away from Ryzom which is slowly becoming Karavan's.
