Its a Karavan's World, Too bad Im not planning be part of it.

Post by hardened »

Well after two weeks in Ryzom mainland I am now considering leaving. The truth is, I feel there are no place here for a Kami devouted pvper like myself.

Roughly two weeks ago me and 9 other friends who knew each other well took our first steps in to the mainland from Ruins, hopes were high for each of us, after all, game was rated top 5 in MMORPG back then, we all had a great time in newbie island and decided to subscribe and enter the big world.

No surprisngly our group was scattered, 4 of us started in zorai, 2 in fairheaven, 3 in yrk.

When we first got in to Zora the captial the first thing came over us was how little there were people around, but we waste no time and started collecting materials and hunting as a group of 2-4 (depends on how many were online). that night, with help of some friendly kami we were quickly on our feet, that night I was trekked to fairheaven, where I made contact with the 2 other players.

When it came to guild, we all had different ideas, some of us wanted to start our own newbie guild, while others wanted to join PvP or PvE oriented, as everyone had different views, we were eventually split up, I being the one who loves PvP, of course joined KoO. Rest of the 6 were scattered amongst Kami guilds, because the help we recived when we first joined(people like Faa or Zahan).

7 of us later got news that the other 2 joined karavan guilds, although we are in different guilds and factions, we still often got together and grinded regularly, as friends of course, but this is where we started to notice the difference in two factions.

The 2 karavan members of course had a constant supply of Cats, best supreme / exellent equipments, making their training much faster and easier, I of course being a KoO had no Cats after lvl 70(because loss of our outpost), but that didn't deter me from my pvp goal, in fact it made me even more determined to train to better my old pals, as result I have spent more time training with other people, made a lot more new friends in the process.

The grinding was slow, but the few OP battles during the week kept me focused on my goal, needless to say, Kamis lost all of them, (excpt the one where Karavan didn't show up)

During the training, 2 of my kami friends saw the advantage of being a Karavan and converted, 1 later left. 2 Weeks later, without help of any cats, I have became the highest lvl, (2h Axe lvl 220) I finally was put in the frontline for the outpost War to take KoO's outpost back, The attack was carefully, planned, everyone in the guild knew their role.

The attack however was a different story, with our best efforts even though the turn out was suppose to be good, Karavan still out numbered by a lot (as I have counted 72 to 35) in fact they out number us so much they can send groups of people(9-12) to attack us way from the outpost, and still have enough back at home to defend)

Now since there are no point for me to contiune OP pvp since there are no chance of winning. after all what is the point in participate in such a one sided battle? With another 2 Kami friend leaving the game because of it, (as well as another new guildy) I am now considering my position, I don't feel I am likely to contiune with this game.

So out of the 9 of us first entered the game, 2 joined up in the start, 2 joined later due to karavan advantage, 1 went inactive, and now including me 3 are leaving the game due to the imbalance, no doubt the future of atys is Karavan's, since starting as a kami has so many disadvantages over starting as a karavan.

Let me make this clear, I am leaving not because I could not access any Cats, If I got to lvl 220 without them, I don't need them to 250, not because we lost OP battle, because wining and losing is all just part of life, But because I feel that I have lost my motivation in the game, in my opinon following current trends there are just no way kami will pick up ever again.

I am not here because I hope to archive anything but just here to vent my fustration in the game. I will most likely be inactive for the last 2 weeks of my subscription then quitely fade away from Ryzom which is slowly becoming Karavan's.

I tend to agree. More and more Kami are either turning neutral or leaving game. There are very few, if at all, Kami guilds that I would consider 'large'. Even if we stood together at an OP battle, we would still be outnumbered by a great deal (as you pointed out, about 2:1). Its shame as there used to be an even balance. But, things change. I doubt I'll be showing to too many OPs battles anymore either simply to save on the amount of damage my gear takes. No point in wasting my jewels, amps and LA gettin repeatedly killed for 3 hours.

Anyway, sorry to see another Kami face go. Good luck to you where ever you end up!

It is a shame you feel that way... But I understand completly... My reasons are pretty close to yours(not exact as I have been around for a bit and I didn't start with 8 or 9 friends :P ) ... I too am leaving the game partially due to the imballance... But mainly due to the way people have been treating each other and whining constantly on both sides about various things... But its sad to see newer players put down...

I wish you all the best of luck with your futures on Atys I wasn't going to post a goodbye but this thread seems apropriet...

Just a small note--
Jocker --Will mis PvPn against you, always had fun you even went out and trained your melee because me and Gurth kept murdering you :p I have alot of respect for you :)

Codewahn -- You're crazy :p always kept me entertained lol...

Rundll -- even tho you always feared me :p ... Always a challenge ;) and other then when Yaffle came and messed us all up :p You always stuck to what you agreed you never cheated lol :P

Jayce -- Ignoring the fight in KoD ... We always had fun... And always j/ked around no matter who was face down in the dirt :p (we each took turns lol)
there are plenty more But those are the ones I can think of atm :P

[edit] the biggest thing that made me leave is when I was arguing with Morgaine ... When a game makes you unreasonable....irritated ... or just plain mad... You need to take a step back... And then I caught my self beginning to whine like the Kami that had demoralized me at last o.O. [/edit]

[another edit] Also, It was pathetic the way people acted today at the OP battle... complaining about aggro pulling(I had Kami pull aggro on me...It was an accident tho so I didn't cry about it... I also had Kara pull on me but didn't cry about it) and neutral healing and so many things I stopped paying attention... And then when the Karavan began taunting/gloating about the win... *sigh* The Kami forces are already demoralized they don't need your help... Granted if you just want to win and have no more OP battles ever then keep that up I am sure you will get your wish... Not aimed at any one person... you know who you are you all need to lighten up and stop being so rude to eachother... The once great community is showing signs of deterioration...[/edit]

Lots of new Homins are joining us every day. It's true the Karavan side is bigger now but it will not always be this way if you work together to build support for your side and grow in numbers. Never give up, fight with all you have to become stronger to make your god proud.

sorry to say but another friend of 9 just said he is leaving too, not due to the imbalance tho :P .

/edit, its not about being optomistic, i have helped people to be kami the best way i can since i got here, I have stayed in Zora to help promote its population, but I have totall lost my motivation for the game, therefore it is no longer enjoyable.

Congratulations, you're acting to perpetuate the problem instead of doing anything to help fix it.

lol... so if they're not enjoying the game, they should stay and play it anyway? His friends are leaving the game, his faction are steadily leaving too. If hes not enjoying the way the games going and the people he hangs out with are leaving, what motivation does he have to stick around?

on a side note, I've seen a lot of people saying the problem is that the kami are not united or aren't trying (mainly from kara), but this is a game. We play to have fun. if its not fun, I'm not going to put myself through it (hence my withdrawal from OP battles). I remain Kami, but will will do little other than sometimes hunt, but mainly dig/craft. Am I making the problem worse? maybe. But all the new incoming "hordes" (honestly, I've not seen all that many new faces comin mainland. And I'm sure they'll stick to the usual racial trends... mostly matis, some tryker/fyros, barely any zorai... so kara wins again.. yay!) will be low level and will take a while to get up to a point where they can take part in the OP fights as anything but cannon fodder (which the main role of everyone recently).

Anything stopping you from going Kami and helping fix the problem you're blaming others for worsening?

Sorry to see you go but I really can see why your leaving. In 2 weeks you power leveled almost to Master with a guild that HAD cats, did they not share ? We have lost over time many more than 4 players, each had their own reasons we fault none of them, nor you.

Maybe if you had stopped to smell the roses more often and seen this is not really a PvP game you may have enjoyed it more. Sorry to see you go, maybe this just wasn't the game you were looking for.

It is not fault of my guilds, they have supported me every step of the way , although I do not consider myself power lvling because I do explore alot, and usually teamed with people around my lvl.

Regarding cats I joined my guild just as we lost the outpost, I was given some q150 cats before the OP fight, but I put whats left of them back to GH after it became apprent there would be no source of them. (also i was only lvl 70 at the time and it would be a waste)

Other than Meleeing I am also HA crafter at lvl 150, and i do often check back to dump or looking for gear at GH and I happen to know that we do not have any CATs left at GH for the past few days.

Anyway that is besides the point, my guild has been providing me with equipment such as weapons, and for that i will always be greatful.
