Difficulty Bonus

Post by darkbeni »

I was wondering what is the real meaning of this "Bonus" From what i have seen, it doesnt increase the EXP that you get. Most of the time you wont use it because you cant stand the extra Sap/Stam/Focus cost.
Please let me know if there really is any "Bonus" to this at all :)

thanks

A higher % chance of success. It's there with the sap cost/range while you're editing, you should see it there ;) I really don't think it's worth extra sap or range, though :P

It's when you have more credit than actions no? So if you spend 40 stamina on an action that only costs 10, maybe you should have it easier to do what you want the action to do because you are paying so heavily in stamina?

Aelvana is right, pay more attention when you are editing the action. it makes the chance of success a little better if you are spending more credit than the action requires.

In addition to what others have said, your max cast success rate is 95%, so no matter how many extra credits you add, there's always a 5% chance to fail (as it should be). Also to consider, on most of your combat spells, it really won't behoove you to spend to much extra credit to get a bonus, it should be in the low 90%'s anyway, and with the number of times you cast attack spells, that extra Sap/Hp cost can really add up. On the other hand, on a spell like Fear, its a good idea to get that sucess rate as close to 95% as is feasible, because it's never good when your fear fails and that spritely yubo owns you. Most importantly, play around and find out what works for you. You need to make the MAS (Modular Action System) your own to be a truly effective caster.

Some spells have a low success rate and can be helped by adding extra credits. The only examples I can think of from beta were things like dual nukes with high AOE or vamp bricks when you just get the nuke/brick. Sometimes you will need to add some extra credits to them to get a useful cast success until you get some levels.
