Please help.... Quick question.....

i have been reading about SOR for about two weeks. I decided to wait a while to play this MMO because I have over $100 a month in sub's now. I have to say if this game is 1/3 as good as I have read..... Well, I hope it is.

I do have one quick question though. I was on the site reading and saw the download game icon so I clicked it and an hour later its installed and ready to go. I tried to register a full account right from the get go but I can't see a way around having a CD key?? Is the downloadable game only for the "free trial" ?

I went ahead and signed up for the free account just to get some action before I have to get to bed but I want to know do I have to go buy the box to be able to play with a FULL account? If so I need to know tonight so I can pick it up (hopefully) tomorrow somehow.

No need for a box, just go to the account managment section of the site and upgrade your free trial.

Welcome to Atys

Just play with you free account as long as you wish. There is no difference between a free or a registered account while you stay on the starter isle (aka Ruins of Silan). You may upgrade your account, when ever you want. But you need to upgrade to a 'full' account, when you decide to move to the mainland.

If and when I get it to work I can just upgrade in the "My Account" screen?

Oh and I am in love with this game. The harvesting and crafting is BY FAR the best in any MMO to date.

The account management password is different for security reasons. It should have been e-mailed to you when you signed up. If you cannot find this e-mail, check your spam filters or press "forgot password" for a new one to be mailed to you.

You will be able to upgrade from the account page yes, either by credit/debit card or through the various "paybycash" options

I think I am going to stay on the island a few days to get used to things and I was told it is a good idea to go ahead and finish most of the quests if not all of them.

Is that a good thing? OR..... A player who has played every single MMO to date with the exception of a couple of foriegn ones should just jump right in to the mainland?

What do you guys recommend? I think the island is by far the best NOOb starting area I have ever seen thats for sure. I just hope that the mainland is the same.

Personally, I would suggest hanging in newbielandia and doing all the missions. Those missions, when all is said and done, are a rather extensive tutorial. Much of the game lore is outlined, how to use various skills, how to edit your skills, etc etc.

You lose nothing by completing them and the missions on newbielandia also give some fair nice xp, dapper, gear payouts that you wont find on mainlandia.

The game you downloaded is the full game. Upgrading does not give you access to anything extra other than the mainlands world. Game functionality is the same.

This game is a fair bit different in character development than any other I've ever played and I've played dang near all of em. Even if you do all the missions and carefully read all the tutorial messages and npc blather, you'll still have questions. Dont be shy about asking.
