I began my free trial Wednesday night. I really love the unique flavor of this game. It's a wonderful change from the cookie cutter crap in the MMO market. Heck I may subscribe for a few months just to support a developer which attempts to bring a different flavor of MMO to the market.
My questions relate to dual wielding. I realize that dagger/dagger is piercing damage, but what about sword/dagger; what type of damage am i doing? Is it all slash damage or is the dagger's added damage considered piercing.
I want to know because I am considering a post dodge action which would cause a bleed. I want to make sure that dual wielding does slash before I invest in the bleed stanzas.
In addition, does anyone use dagger/dagger? It seems less effective than sword/dagger, but the low malus impact and the ability to focus on hand to hand rather than two branches is tempting.
Finally, do the ignore armor actions eliminate a certain amount of damage reduction from the enemie's armor? I can't recall the exact description, but it seemed vague to me.
Just started and have a few questions
Re: Just started and have a few questions
Greetings and welcome! Atys should continue to offer many new and interesting experiences for you for a long time to come
Dual wielding a sword and dagger together will result in your attack being a mix of both piercing and slshing damage. THe sword will slash and the dagger pierce, and sys info will show how much damage each did and if the creature has protections to one of the types.
If you were to learnt he bleed stanza and use it while dual wielding, the bleed damage would be based solely off the sword attack. Meaning using dual sword and dagger with bleed and just a sword alone with bleed will cause the same amount of bleed damage.
Special note: With only a few exceptions, the stanzas in your attack action generally won't affect the off-hand dagger at all. Specifically increase damage and probably not accurate attack either. Just expect the default damage of the dagger when its able to connect. The exceptions are ingore armor, if dual wielding daggers and using IA both will bypass piercing armor. Also, the "aim" stanzas will be effective with it. Having an aim head stanza will cause both attacks to hit the creatures head.
Some people do use dual daggers, but the damage is definitely very poor. You'd need a team to really level it effectively- but on the bright side a bigger team with elementals and other melee won't really suffer from you using just daggers as there will be plenty of amage to go around. Personally when levleing dagger I like to use a single one with a shield and play a good tank role.
Edit: Also something to note- dagger speed is bugged. While the hits per minuet listed on a crafted dagger can go up to 60, in practice they will never attack faster then 36 hpm, about the same as a good 1H weapon like sword or spear.
High level dagger skill still isn't worth a lot to be effective in combat. It's somethng you have to do because it' fun and what you enjoy.
Ignore armor is a very valuable stanza that only works with pericing weapons: daggers, pike, spear. It will *compeltely* bypass piercing damage protection on all creatures (and players) if you use the appropriately high enough level of the stanza. Some creatures, like kipucka, have 75% or mroe protection to ALL melee attacks, so a melee that can use ignore armor is the only one that will be effective against them.
