Skill/Level up guides?

Greetings everyone!
Well I just joined this awesome community and started playing Ryzom, I must say it's quite fascinating so far! I've been building up a few levels on the Newb Island but I really am not sure how I should spend my points and what would be the best skills to get early on. ANyone could point me to some early levels guide to help me out, or have a few tips for me...I took craft/ harvest / magic pack and I'm gathering money to buy a dagger to start on fighting.

10 people will give 10 different answers... the bottom line with SoR is do what you want to be. In a classless game you become what you want to be by doing it. Once you have the skills acquired by doing what you want, you can then focus on specific skills and bypass the others (until you have "extra SP").

Check the Player Made Guides forums for other tidbits as well. What you will find on player made sites far exceeds the info on skills found on the Ryzom site.

basically just have fun with it, its really really hard to 'gimp' yourself by buying the wrong stanzas. If you do buy some skills you find you dont need, there are plenty of skill points to buy everything as you level up

I think you've made a good choice with the packs. This is a game where you'll learn as you progress.
You might want to stay on the island until after the 4 day patch that's starting on monday. I know many old players will create new characters just to be able to explore the new island that will shared by all races.
Who knows, you might even make some friends then, as it will be populated by many experienced players
The server should be back online on friday.

I'm wondering this as well, as I just signed up yesterday and spent some time in-game today. Will we get an extra 4 days?

I would think all will get an additional 4 days, but can't guarantee it.
On the other hand, it's an option to create a new trial if you don't

seeing as we are talking about it, characters currently on the starter islands are not transfered to the new one, if you want to see if you will have to create a new character.
