I guess this would be my first complaint about the game. I finally got to a high level in Melee fight and I'm beginning my training as a Close Combat Fighter.
What aggravates me is that mobs that are level 20 and sometimes below, are still aggroing me. When I want to take a simple walk over to a harvesting spot, I constantly have to deal with low level mobs that still aggro, take a decent amount of time to kill, do a considerable amount of damage when more than two are trained, give little to no experience, and will not give up pursuit until you are safely in water and far far away.
It is in my opinion that there should be some sort of level check for the A.I.
If I'm level 90 in melee, I don't think I should have to worry about taking a short walk just outside of town where low level 20 and below mobs still aggro.
Anyone else in favor of A.I. level checking?

Re: Low Level Aggro is Annoying
I wouldn't like to see that Stellus, I have always wondered why monsters would stop to check your level before attacking you. Do Zombies in those night of the dead movies /con you before eating out your brain? In my opinion perhaps only intelligent sentient mobs should fear you and not attack you. Since the majority of the mobs in Ryzom are creatures who follow the same "See Food", "Eat food", doctrine I don't see why they would stop attacking you for going into their territory. Ever see a bear check your level before attacking you? A level 90 warrior looks just like a level 1 warrior, they aren't bigger, more menacing, nor do they sport a giant sign written in monster that says "Don't attack me I am high level!"

That just cracked me up, oh my god (I'm having this image in my head depicting two raguses pondering that is that light blue or blue, or level 20-78, or summit, or.. wth)zzeii wrote:Maybe the mobs are dealing with the same con issues we are?
As for the question: no. It's really annoying that mobs that won't even give you exp aggro you, but that mainly goes for gingos out there. Even in low levels they do take more than its really needed (that is, one hit), but: I somehow find that just realistic or something along that line. It's not that you grow in size or anything, to look more intimidating to them et cetera. They have learned that they can kill a homin so they act accordingly, unless you grow in size or every homin out there beats the living hell out of them I don't foresee why they should change their behaviour.
Though some dumb ragus still out there attack mobs that they have absolutely NO chance to win against on regular basis, so there might be some adjusting to do. But as for against players: nah. It's all about opinions and this is mine. Comparing the issue with realism might not be the right choice for me to do, but my point was truly something along that line.

Confidence, Attitude, and Behaviour are a big part of dealing with animals. These are things that people pick up on their own while dealing with animals over time. A yapping dog being met with someone worried or made uncomfortable by their yapping, is going to be encouraged... a yapping dog met with a person who growls back, is not going to have the same reaction... a yapping dog that gets caught by the throat and pinned to the ground while you stare into it's eyes and growl back... it's prolly going to run away when you let it go .Eshin wrote:As for the question: no. To be brutally honest, a low level aggro mob that you can kill in one hit or kill without thinking about it... is basically that yapping dog.
Re: Low Level Aggro is Annoying
Point being is that not only are the mobs of Ryzom said to be "intelligent" beings, but that the fact that aggro still occurs on high leveled characters takes away some gameplay value.
If you're level 250 in Fight, you -STILL- have to worry about drawing aggro in front of town where the Vigorous Goaris are, for the reasons that:
1. It's annoying. Something as simple as travelling a short distance to get to a harvesting spot or hunting spot turns into a nuisance. You have to completely stop what you're doing and take out the low level mobs that added. When a train amounts to 5 or 6, they do a considerable amount of damage.
2. It gives no sense of accomplishment. Lv. 250 yet still fighting off the same level 20 mobs. Again, a large group of trained mobs can still tear a higher leveld character to shreds.
3. Gameplay enjoyment is sacrificed for realistic aspects.
4. It's time consuming. It detracts from what you could be accomplishing, but are forced not to because of some measely low level enemies that decided to latch onto you.

Re: Low Level Aggro is Annoying
As much as I understand it, you are still going to get xp on that mob if you use a skill you have not leveled. They don't actually give no xp. They just don't give any more xp to your 250 pike etc if you were to use the pike. The point of having those mobs there is to introduce risk to the harvesters. If they have no risk then you will see a large camp of them all sitting there harvesting. That is the reason for that death clopper roaming around there too. I'd hate to see death hoppers everywhere I go because you removed the danger for the harvesters.
Re: Low Level Aggro is Annoying
I see your point, however would it be plausible for the A.I. to check players by the skill they are currently using? For Example:
If I'm running into town in Q200 Heavy Armor carrying a huge Q200 Axe, the A.I. could check that the current skill in use would be Fight and not to mess with my character.
However, if I'm running half naked carrying a simple Harvesting Pick, the A.I. could recognize that I'm vulnerable and therefore attack me.
Just an idea.

Re: Low Level Aggro is Annoying
This sounds so inrealistic... i dont think the mobs gives a rats ass if it's a lvl 10 or 200 armor, how wuld he suppose to know what infact a good armor is?
sure it might be annouying, but i sometimes thinks it's annoying to find mobs to exp at. shuld they then have AI to see that and line up so that i can kille 'em?
