another newbie!

Post by nerdlove »

I am sure many are tiresome of these posts hehe

I am offically introducing myself (play Willa in-game) and my hubby (we game together!). We have been having tons of fun and can't seem to pull ourselves away from the game. Have been reading so many helpful posts (thanks to everyone!) and feel we got a basic handle of all of it. I do however have 1 quick question to ask before we make our accounts final.

After we leave the newbie isle and start to get into the higher end fun will we be forced to group? It isn't that we don't like to group with others because we definatly do! I love meeting new people..it is just sometimes we can coordinate play times with each other easier then people in game. I just wanted to make sure we could duo/solo pretty effectively and get a bit done when we aren't grouped with others. Thanks in advance for the replies!

Welcome to our Giant Root Ball!

There's only a couple of skills that REQUIRE teaming, such as healing. I have soloed nearly every skill level I have except healing. I haven't worked much with afflictions, but I understand that they really need to be worked in a team also.

A duo is quite an effective teaming style, allowing either one healer and one fighter or two fighters that crossheal between rounds. Makes things go so much faster.

Duos also work well while harvesting, whether you have one digger and one careplanner, or two diggers that watch out for one another, and heal/rez if a source blows up on you.

Crafting is a solo exercise, no teaming there. Although two people means twice the mats for crafting...

Now, if you want to go after critters bigger than you, you will probably want to team with others of a like skill level so you can actually take the bugger down. Most times of the day there's other folks online, just holler in /region to see if anyone wants to team.

Once you're comfortable with the controls, move on over to the mainland, its more fun and there's more homins around to interact with.
Enjoy!

Welcome both and hope you'll have loads of fun. And no, you are not forced to group. Soloing is slowlier and harder but still works. Besides as long as you are two playing together you already have one of the best teams required. :)

Agrees whole heartedly with that.

Welcome to Atys.

Samar pretty much covered the answer to your question, I wil just add that I have gained a large proportion of my melee/magic lvls working in a duo. Main benefit over solo is you don't have to rest between kills when hunting, you can heal each other.

Welcome.
I play with my partner and a lot of the time we only Duo.
I am a fighter mostly, and she is a mage.
We can kill mobs that give 2.5-3k experiance each (3k is the max you can get in one kill) and because we can boath heal fairly well (when we group with other people one of us raises heal wilst the other raises any other skill) there is almost no down time

I would recomend everyone to know at least some healing.

regular duoing is one of the best ways to play, knowing how your team mate will react all the time makes it much easyer
