Downloading the free trial right now. I m gonna do a Zorai tank , they look the coolest. Any tips?

At the moment, main land zoari is very tame (no agro mobs) so little need to stay of the zoari starter island. little black furry kami dude just north of the middle town will take you to Zora i think
If into melee as soon as you can afford it, ditch the dagger, swap for a one handed sword +dagger combo or a 2 handed sword (you specialize later on), and got on a mektoub killing frenzy south of zora for 30 mins to get some practice of melee.
loads of digging goes on in the same spot south of zora, all perfectly safe spots.
enjoy yourself, and dont be afraid to ask questions in region chat

By Tank I assume you mean you'll be concentrating on melee skills, which is great. Just don't neglect your defensive magic skills, occasionally you'll need to rez a teammate or cross-heal your healer.
I generally reccommend characters stay on the training island until they are comfortable with the controls, then port to the mainland.
Don't judge the game by the starter island, wait until you get to the mainland and experience a bit more of what the game has to offer. Training islands can be a bit sparsely populated.
And buy a dagger or 1H sword (player crafted prefereably) as soon as you can (loot your kills for mats, sell the mats to a merchant for dapper), it'll significantly help your kill rate.
Buy a set of magic amps also, they'll help with your magic ability, and everyone needs to be able to heal at least a little. BTW healing can only be learned "in team" so team early and often, and trade heals while battling to get XP.
Lastly, Have Fun!

Armor usage

Wear a mix of medium and heavy armor while meleeing solo, and all heavy while tanking in a team. I've found this armor mixture quite effective on low level alts. Medium has less action penalty than heavy.
Action penalties and credits
-------------------------
The higher your action penalty, the more action credits (stamina, HP, etc.) you use. To see what action credits are, try right clicking on an action in your shortcut bar (window in the top middle of the screen) and selecting edit. You'll see two buttons, add option and add credit (I think, not looking at it right now so I'm not entirely sure). Play with these a bit and it might help you to understand the modular action system.

While hunting solo, you'll want your attacks to use a bit less stamina, so you don't run out or have to wait for it to regenerate. While tanking in a team, you'll usually have a healer who can restore your stats, so conserving stamina etc. isn't as important and you can use all heavy armor for its greater protection factor.
For magic, it's best to use light armor or, if you want some extra protection, light mixed with some medium. You should always use all light armor when foraging and crafting.
Armor types information

Light armor has no action penalty, but very little protection (usually around 12%). The only stat bonus (such as HP) on it is what the crafter puts on it. The quality of light armor you can wear is your highest level +25.
Medium armor has more protection (usually around 25%) than light, but less than heavy. It also has more action penalty than light and less than medium. Each piece of medium automatically has an HP bonus of half its quality, plus whatever the crafter added to it. The quality of medium armor you can wear is your Constitution * 1.5 (press P ingame to see the Identity window, where your stats such as Constitution are listed). This is a handy tool for finding the quality of armor you can wear.
Heavy armor has the most action penalty, and the most protection, usually around 45% but ideally 50%+. Each piece automatically has an HP bonus equal to its quality, plus whatever the crafter put on it. The quality of heavy armor you can wear is your Constitution +10.
Stats

Constitution corresponds to your HP. Each Constitution upgrade gives you 5 points of Constitution, which equates to 50 more points of HP. This rule applies to Strength, Intelligence, and Dexterity as well.
Metabolism corresponds to the regeneration rate of your HP.
Strength is your stamina, Balance is your stamina regeneration rate. Stamina relates to melee and ranged fighting.
Intelligence is Sap, Wisdom is sap regeneration rate. Sap relates to magic.
Dexterity is Focus, Will is focus regeneration rate. Focus relates to foraging/harvesting and crafting.
Anyway, I hope I've helped and haven't just confused you. XD Kind of semi-random information that came to mind as extensions to what I initially said about using a mix of medium and heavy while meleeing solo.

Do Races have special traits? And are any race specially suited for fighter, mage, priest , and such. The way I read it , you could use any skill you wanted.

For functional purposes, all races basically equal. There's some differences in natural resistances, but nothing that affects which are better mages, fighters, etc.azurel wrote:Do Races have special traits? As far as starting packs, melee is the one I would suggest you do NOT buy. You can fight without it (bare handed if need be until you can afford a weapon)

Starting locations (you can soon get help trekking to other lands

Starting Fame (which factions, races and tribes like you or hate you, this stuff is pretty changeable if you dont mind doing missions)
Starting resists/protections. You get some % protection to various magical attacks based on your race. you can compensate with appropriate jewels. It's not a major ammount, and uber jewelcrafters have recipes to compensate for each race if you want an equal resistance to lots of things.
Any race can use any skill, and all are equally good at each. Traditionally each race has their own prefered skills, but this has no in-game effects, you are free to pick your own path
