I just learned about this game today, while perusing MMORPG.com for something fun and new to try. I can't seem to find many games that fill my interest. I played WoW for a while but I've grown tired of raid, raid raid in order to keep my character potent. Anyway, I'm giving Ryzom a try (7 day free trial is a wonderful idea for any game). If I enjoy myself, I will definately pay for it. I'll be honest, from what I've read, it sounds promising! I'm downloading the client now, can't wait to try it out.

Welcome to one of the best MMOs I've ever played. Don't take the game just on what you do on your first half an hour you have to dig deeper.
Like foraging for instance. When I first tried it at the start of the game, I clicked on what I wanted to dig and waited for 20 secs for it to finish. Then as I leveled up a little I started to prospect my own, then what had been a simple task of digging turned into a balance game using skills to to stop hidden gas pockets blowing up in my face and shape shifting gods from killing me for digging where they didn't want me.

Warm welcome Vincentp! I've been playing Ryzom for about 6 months and I'm *still* excited every time I log in. I still haven't even been to probably 3/4 of the world of Atys, so I know there are months of more exciting times yet to come.
Best of all, Ryzom seems to have the best community!! Lots and lots of wonderful folks that are eager to help a new player.
Take your time on the "Newbie Island" of whichever race you chose to play. It's usually a good idea to stay there until you get around level 20 in the skills you plan to work on first. It might get a little "lonely" on the Island, but you'll be glad you trained up a bit.

I haven't had much time to play tonight, unfortunately, and I've done so little I can't really comment so far. However, I DO really like what I have seen of the world, the skill system and the lore so far, it seems like this is all very in depth and those are definately things I look for in a game.
Aside from that.. I'm sure you're all used to hearing this by now but.. wow.. I've played a ton of games and I've never seen a community so inviting and friendly as this one. That honestly might be reason enough to play the game.
