A Karavaneer's Story
*This event has not taken place*
Keiko stood as still as she could in the entrance to the forest. It was just her luck to get caught alone by three Kami worshippers. Jena save her.
Keiko has spotted the Kami while taking care of the dog problem for one of the Matisians, right outside of the Matis Arena. She had hurried to the dense surrounding forest and equipped her more powerful weapon, amplifiers.
Now as she stood alone in the forest, she prayed to Jena to bring back her essence if the evil Kami heathens found her out. As powerful as she was, Keiko knew three powerful Kami would get the better of her.
The Kami followers were coming closer now. She yelled for assistance from her fellow karavaneers telepathically, but none answered her call. And then, 50 meters away, the Kami appeared.
She caught their names as they talked to one another. Kye, Fasinus, and Quiksilver. Keiko remembered the time when she would dig in Grove of Confusion with Fasinus. How the two of them would discuss guilds and controversial homins. Would Fasinus really kill her? Kye and Quiksilver, Keiko did not know them as well. Shed heard a lot about them, Kye especially. Keiko had fought against both of them countless times, so she knew the trio was formidable.
As her enemies drew closer, 45 meters then 40 meters, Keiko heard a voice. Her saving grace! Rocci in the distance called to her, offering his aid. Keiko smiled in relief and joy. She should have known Rocci, at least, would answer her call for aid.
So glad was she, that Keiko released a joyous laugh, alerting the Kami to her location. Kyes head shot towards Keiko, and he spotted the metallic glint of her white medium armor.
The Kami wasted no time in mounting their forces. Kye and Fasinus ran forward towards Keiko, and Quiksilver stayed back to heal. Kye had his axe in hand and Fasinus wore his magic amplifiers of elemental cast.
Keiko hurriedly launched an attack on Quiksilver, hoping that Rocci would pick up her heals. And he did, of course. After a few shockwave spells, Quiksilver went down. Fasinus stopped mid-nuke to heal him back up, but Kye kept coming.
Kye sliced at Keikos stomach first, but she dodged. His axe sliced into her thigh, a critical blow. Fasinus had Quiksilver back up, and Fasinus was now launching an attack on Rocci. Rocci hurried to use his magic aura but went down to fast.
Keiko couldnt get a heal off. Her magic and melee aura were useless against both attacks. If she became invulnerable, she wouldnt be able to heal Rocci. And running away would not help. So, with one last shockwave spell from Keiko, Kye swung his final swing and cut Keiko down. Keikos body cried out as it crumpled to the ground.
The Kami had gotten Rocci and Keiko. Not the first and probably not the last time. The Kami were organized and enthusiastic about their God, Ma-Duk. These supposed Karavan now, werent as organized, and most didnt seem to want to fight for their Goddess, Jena. These new age Karavan needed to remember who kept them alive and remember who gave them the ability to teleport. But will they remember? Or have they forgotten?

Re: A Karavaneer's Story
A true Karavaneer never forgets the reason why we fight and never turns down a friend in need. Every Kami slave is wiley in battle, but rarely organize as you saw these three do. Thank Jena this is so, for it always seems they outnumber us. Strangely enough, while Ma-Duk has select few powerful champions, the vast majority of his followers form a horde of unorganized lurkers with little valuable skill at arms. Luckily, these low soldiers run at the first real sign of danger and do little, if anything, to help their more dominant brothers and sisters.
Keiko, I only wish I were there to provide you with the necessary assistance. Sadly, I was having some sort of out of body experience where I plied an obscure trade, while sitting in front of a magical box that scrolled cryptic numbers and letters in seemingly random fashion.

Re: A Karavaneer's Story
I have faced both Kye and Fasinus on many occasions and know them both to be formidable foes and with Quicksilver in attendance too being outnumbered there is no shame in the failure of your valiant effort and I am sure our Lady Jena returned your soul to the light with a smile on her face and not a frown.
You mention being feeling deserted by a new breed of Karavan and Spiff mentions being True karavan. There are many who follow the path's laid before them. Some who, blinded by faith to all other concerns, wish to lead with the burning Zeal of a high Priestess down to some who pay less regard in order just to benefit from our Ladys Grace in Order to travel and Keep breathing the Air of Atys.
There are many valid paths and aslong as they lead to halting the Spread of those waving Ma-Duks little yellow rag, who is to say who is right or wrong.
From a Tryker perspective I feel a division in the followers of the Karavan and mis-trust because of some feeling that Jena was best served by interfering in the affairs of an allied nation rather than taking the rightous fight into Kami lands.
Better one Kami outpost in the lakes than a divided Karavan.

Re: A Karavaneer's Story
There would seem to be a contradiction in these 2 statements. Doesn't a Kami outpost in the lakelands encourage "the Spread of those waving Ma-Duks little yellow rag"? How do you reconcile these 2 thoughts? Pleaes don't tell me I'm "blinded by faith" for even asking; it's an honest question.norvic wrote:There are many valid paths and aslong as they lead to halting the Spread of those waving Ma-Duks little yellow rag, who is to say who is right or wrong.

Re: A Karavaneer's Story
I see one Kami outpost in the lakes as the lesser of two evils when weighed against a divided Karavan, a division in the Karavan is the veiled work of Ma-Duk as is the disrespect of their Trykers neighbours and allies and by some more ardent Matis when they ride roughshod over the vote for tolerance by the people of the lakes.
What is not more "blinded by faith" than a willingness to shed the blood of your own people on lakeland soil in the name of Jena, when your own people voted for tolerance. I would rather see the Karavan in overall control aswell in the lakes but the action taken was very shortsighted and does Jena nothing but dis-service.

Re: A Karavaneer's Story
I guess I shouldn't be surprised that a karavaneer made a kamist appear evil here when really it is clear that Keiko attacked first. There is nothing to say that the Merchants of Void were about to attack you.Keiko wrote:The Kami wasted no time in mounting their forces. This is just another case of a karavan presence scared by what they do not understand and attacking out of fear rather than a retaliation.
((out of story context)@ spiff - i think you will find that the karavan population heavily outnumbers the kami population. We just appear many because we ARE organised and have mustered a force at op battles)Spiff wrote:Every Kami slave is wiley in battle, but rarely organize as you saw these three do. Re: A Karavaneer's Story
Hate to contradict you Ali, but unless you know something I don't... During "EE times" there are more Kami players online, whereas during "NA times" there are more Karavan players online. Being someone who plays until ungodly hours of the UK morning, I can safely say that (at least in terms of those who show to PvP situations and previous to Infinity leaving) the Kamists outnumber the Karavaneers.alibasil wrote:((out of story context)@ spiff - i think you will find that the karavan population heavily outnumbers the kami population. ((Guys, all this has nothing to do with the story. As Keiko stated, none of it ever happened. So please, take your arguements and OOC posts out of the RP forums.))
((And now for my side of the story...))
Rocci heard the mental cry loud and clear. The Kami were invading his home once more. As he killed the last of a herd of Najabs, he sent out his own cry, signaling help was on the way. He activated his pact with the Karavan, and with Jena's help he teleported to Yrkanis.
While his body materialized at Yrkanis, he shook off the teleport sickness and went looking for Keiko. The moment he found her, spells started flying in both directions. Having no time to confirm a target himself, Rocci started healing Keiko and hoped she would choose the right target. He knew that he, as the healer, would get targetted by the Kami, so within seconds he had his Magic Shield up. That very second was when he saw the Zorai one had an axe.
Without a Melee Shield protecting them from the interrupting blows, Keiko seemed to have trouble casting. Then the Magic Shield collapsed, and they were totally unprotected. The Zorai with the axe knew very well where to hit his opponents, for Keiko let out a cry and collapsed to the ground, seconds after Rocci fell to another Fire spell.
With the other people in Yrkanis afraid of Kami repercussions, noone dared healing them back to life. When it became apparent the other Karavan were occupied or asleep, Rocci made his decision. He would use the power of Jena to bring his own body back to life. Though very painfull, it was the only way to spare Keiko the same fate. His only hope was that the Kami had left the area by the time he returned...

I can only really speak of Kye as my contact with Fasinus and Quiksilver is somewhat limited. He has a reputation for being good in a fight which is possibly justified.
My contact with Keiko is also limited however I know that the Reapers are peaceful by nature with strong beliefs.
It is my opinion that Keiko was probably intimidated by the presence of the Merchants of Void and out of fear she attacked. Her atttack probably wasn't intended to kill but more to stun and escape.
I couldn't imagine that the Merchants had the intention or the audacity to attack Keiko right next to Yrkanis as a band of 3 homins. Her cry for help could have been heard by more and they would have known this.
Hopefully we can get a statement from the Merchants of Void...

(probably 85% of my posts on these boards are IC based on my persona as a Tryker Citizen, Rifleman and Kara supporter, and not just posts in the RP forum. My initial reply was not intended to take anything away from Keikos story but purely prompted by ideas in it and my next was an IC answer to a question raised by Oud about my post, sorry if you felt Keikos thread was derailled at all. If a storyteller sits in a tavern and recounts their tale would there purely be silence after?)
