Just had a general question.
Other mmo's that I have played have had multiple servers with either desginated RP servers or a server that just gravitated towards RP.
Just wondering how that's going to go since we're all on one server. So far (I've only been in newbie land) pretty much everything has been OOC. Everyone has been friendly and helpful, so that's not the issue. But it's a little weird seeing a Zorai talking about seeing a movie or something like that.

Re: Roleplaying in Ryzom
It's funny last night we got into a debate about real life politics on the regional channel last night and it seemed everyone started chatting and throwing their opinions in. It got to a very heated point and I attempted to change it to talking about game politics and it was as if everyone lost thier fingers and couldn't type. What they really need is a roleplaying chat channel.spazzlad wrote:Just had a general question.

You could also join me in the roleplay board on here. It's awefully lonely and quiet in there. Someone is talking about something called Canada that is in the northern part of North America. Since they said North I assume it's a place. Though as I said there, I have never heard of any tribe mention such a place nor any of the Zorai elders mention it. I think it's Karavan trickery at it's best.
Re: Roleplaying in Ryzom
Region chat is just generally obnoxious. You get people just whining about how the game is completely broken (nothing works), politics, and stupid stuff
I've found plenty of opportunities to RP with others in vicinity chat. I would also strongly suggest finding a roleplay guild of people to interact with. This gives you an automatic playerbase to work with and hopefully they'll also find others to roleplay with in a diverse setting.

Re: Roleplaying in Ryzom
I have found times where people gladly RP'd. When the RP events were on the people in Yrkanis really seemed to get into the regional polotics and such. I met a Zorai today in Yrkanis and I tried to RP that a bit. It's there, but most people don't like to be in character at all times. That becomes work.
Re: Roleplaying in Ryzom
My guess is as people become more comfortable with the UI, and the game in general, you will see more roleplay abound.
I know its taken me all day to start to get a grip on the UI, so roleplaying is the last thing on my mind just yet.
But then... maybe I'm jes slow.
