Lag Annoyance

Post by fiach »

Yesterday a guild-mate sold his amps in error as a lag spike hit during the transaction. Needless to say he was bloody annoyed!

This evening, I sold my LA Vest in error for the same reason, I contacted a GM, but he/she could net help me.

Last night I was doing a Fame Mission of Exploration and I got killed and lost my mount due to a Kincher catching up at the wrong time due to a lag spike.

So effectively in 24 hours I have lost 1 mill Dappers, that I can ill afford (due to having just returned, but prior to leaving, I gave my stuff away), and feel I lost unjustly.

Once again, my patience is wearing thin Neverax, wonder how long it will last this time >.<

Sorry for the rant, I know they wont do anything, but I needed to ventilate!

There is no server lag from what I can tell. Check with your ISP or your ISP if you are lagging so bad. It makes sense to me that the GMs cant do anything as it would be very difficult to track every single mis-sold item, and work out if it was an intentional sell or due to lag. You cant tell the difference, so they would get a lot of unjust calls as well as those down to lag.

Same time as it happened, my guildmates were digging elsewhere and had a lag spike too (maybe I am using the wrong name, but it's not really important, I'm still not going to get my stuff back).

Regarding the tracking of "mis-sold" stuff, the transactions (trade/sales) are all in your logs, I contacted the GM immediately, they can check if they could be bothered and rectified if they could be bothered, I have seen it done in Lineage without any hesitation / procrastination from the GM's.

Only thing a GM ever did for me was get me unstuck in Zorai once, nice job :)

If it was yesterday, that wasn't lag. There were several times the server status went into Probe for a few seconds. This happened over a period of five minutes, then stopped. This is rare and usually means a networking problem on Jolt's end or close to them.

Oooh, that wasn't just me? I had that happen yesterday too, but I also lost all contact with my DNS server for 5-10 minutes, so I assumed it was my ISP. Maybe I hit both problems at the same time; fun. Fortunately, I wasn't trying to sell anything.

Make sure that you have the game port open in your firewall and router.

Look in the Network and LinkSys FAQs in the Tech Support forum for the details.

Plus you may have encountered a noisy network somewhere along the way between you and the servers. This happens to all of us from time to time and nothing can really be done about it. If it is persistant, and not due to your network equipment, then you should contact your ISP. Again, the Network FAQ has details on how to track down where problems may be occurring.

did that also.... year ago and that was enough ;-)
now i always equip or transfer valuable items to packer before going "click, shift-enter" frenzy. (and/or put merchant filter to min/max q 1 to get some speed up)
if i'm not able to transfer valuable items to packer, then i'm _extremly_ careful when selling.

it's almost cetainly a network or hardware issue and no fault of the game. There are many times when those around me 'lag' for anything up to a minute and i am fine, and also the other way round. If it's high up the chain as was the case a few months ago when many NA players were having issues its still not server side but can affect lots of peeps

ur ranting at the wrong people i'm afraid :)

Hi Rushin :) , TBH I am just ventilating as I know I will get nothing back, but regardless of who is at fault, It shouldn't be too difficult to reverse the sale and apparently others have had issues with selling....come on, the fact that people will equip/store their important stuff prior to approaching a vendor, speaks for itself LOL :D

Anyway, nuff said :)
