Unable to play

Post by altos1 »

Hello, I just downloaded the trial last night, and installed this morning, but it just will not get to a point that it is playable.

I get the spash screen, and the screen that says NEVRAX, then to the login screen. At this point I have very laggy mouse movement. I have to move the mouse, and then wait for it to show up...

I can get logged in, but when it comes to the new Character screen, it is impossible to create a character - same issues.

Here is my setup:

AMD Athlon 64 3800+
2GB RAM
Radeon x800 Pro PCI-X

You might try opening the configuration at the login screen and switching the mouse to hardware. I used to have bad mouse lag problems til I switched. You don't get the shiny mouse pointer, but you do get better response.

You didn't say what drivers you are using. And whether or not your Direct-X is up to date.
You may also want to tweak your windows display adapter 3D settings down to the performance end until you get a feel for how Ryzom will work with your card. i.e. set Anti-Aliasing and Anisotropic Filtering to 'application choice', etc.
Go into the Ryzom game configuration (button is on launcher window) and make sure that it is set to Direct3D.

Make sure to use retail release drivers and to have them installed properly (remove current drivers, reboot, ignore hardware found messgaes and then run the installer.) Removing and reinstalling may also help and only takes 5-10 minutes.

Ryzom doesn't like overclocking very much so make sure things are set to proper bus speeds.
