Hey all,
I am kinda disapointed in our little Ryzom community.
On one side the community doesn't "allow" OP's to be attacked. On the other side it is accepted by the community that one guild can own multiple OPs. I heard there are even 2 member guilds having outposts.
Given the fact that the elevation crystals are the most important commodity these days I think its not fair play. Leveling is not very easy and I dont wanna play a for a year doing something that someone else can do in 6 months.
Either make a rotation system of owning OP's or accept the fact that OP's can be attacked (what they were designed for). I think its real easy to promote peace when you own your own outpost.
Personally i dont like PvP and prefer some kind of rotation system but atm its all very hypocritical.

Re: Lousy community
single post on this thread for me.
You can't expect every guild to share what they have worked for, some do, some dont. If we get a situation where a few guilds start owning 3/4/5 op's then i would hope the 'have nots' rally together and stop it happening.
op's are a test of power, however strong the omegaV's and infinity's of this world are there will come a point where they stretch themselves too thinly. i dont see a problem tbh.
for the record TW share out an awful lot of our op loot with allies and friends but i would never expect everyone to do so, or for that matter want them to. I dont see this as a breakdown of the community, far from it. Choices have to be made for all of us, just because we war with the opposing faction doesnt mean we suddenly stop playing nicely, having fun, and helping ppl out.

Personally, much as I dislike PvP, if you own an outpost, it should be OK to have other guilds challenge you. But those guilds who share stuff out should find more support when they get attacked!!

HA..ya try locating any 250 crystals in kami lands for a reasonable price.zippo123 wrote:Hey all,

I hear the kara share and trade freely however.
Mighty nice of them i suppose..no wonder they stick together and are so powerful in an OP battle
I fear the day that the protection exploit is removed from the posts and they decide to over power the kami guilds who are lagging behind

Actually I know of at least 2 guilds, my own guild included, who share xp crystals freely or trade for a very reasonable rate. (Kindle wouldn't let me give them to her for free)
Re: Lousy community
I'm not really sure what you're asking for. Outposts can and have been attacked. Their purpose is to provide a mini-PvP environment within a somewhat structured environment. If you can't stand any kind of PvP, then outposts aren't for you. It's not the community's fault; that's what they are designed for.zippo123 wrote:I am kinda disapointed in our little Ryzom community.

Personally I don't like PvP either, but to me, the bad PvP is the open, unstructured kind. It encourages too many bad behaviours (I know there's some of you that don't mind being ganked while afk, but to me it's really lame behaviour). Some people like it; I don't. But this structured type of PvP (fight for a specific thing, in a specific time frame, with specific rules) seems OK to me. In fact, it's been fun, really.
I agree the false declarations should stop and Nevrax has already announced changes to help prevent them (no more ending the declaration and increasing the costs). At some point, the false declarations will either bankrupt the guilds or stop.
If someone complains when you attack them, just ignore it and go foward with your attack. Look, they published the rules of the game and attacking an outpost held by a guild is well within the rules (both letter and spirit).
Even from a story perspective: we are securing military bases. Rotating ownership without battle defeats the purpose. We hold them because we are able to hold them and we know we are able because we've proven it in battle.
Want some crystals, but don't want to engage in PvP? Trade for them. If you're that much of a carebear, you must have something you do that would be useful to a guild that owns an outpost. Make a deal.
Want one of your own but not strong enough by yourself? Easy-peasy:
1. pick a side (kami or karavan); sorry, Neutral got neutered. Not my fault; just is the way it is.
2. make friends with your side; defend them actively when they are attacked; support them when they attack.
3. now that you're well known, call upon them to aid you in attacking an OP.
Don't like the fact that 2 Kami guilds are each holding 2 of the higher level OP's? Convince enough other guilds that they are being selfish and plan an attack. Heck, promise to share some of the output with some neutral guilds and maybe they'll help you, too. Maybe some Karavaneers will help you just for the fun of it.
I'm sorry if I'm ranting, but you've got a poll that doesn't make sense to me:
We "allow" OP attacks and let it be part of the game - it already is part of the game. The only thing actually stopping it are false declarations and that's gonna be patched soon. The only other thing that a guild can do to stop an attack is complain and that only works if you let it.
We should make some kind of schedule for OP ownership and rotate them among guilds - this runs completely counter to the intent of the outposts. Do this and you destroy them for all intents and purposes.
Do nothing and Supernovae leaves the game. - And the attitude in this choice is why I'm ranting a bit.
