For some reason everytime I start up SOR, my wireless network disconnects. I haven't played it here yet and after I was finally able to start it up (it was missing 2 .dll files), it keeps on disconnecting my pc from the network and I can't can back onto it unless I shut down the game. It doesn't affect the other pc's that are on the network and it only happens on my pc, my little brother doesn't have a problem at all while playing SOR and he's also on the wlan.
Does anybody have a solution for this?
Game makes my wireless network crash
Re: Game makes my wireless network crash
Some LinkSys wireless routers need to have the 'Zero Wireless Configuration' service disabled on your PC before running Ryzom. This may apply to other brands as well, but we have not encountered that yet.

I'm using a US robotics one and disabling the service didn't change anything.Zerlin wrote:Some LinkSys wireless routers need to have the 'Zero Wireless Configuration' service disabled on your PC before running Ryzom. This may apply to other brands as well, but we have not encountered that yet.

Doesn't expecting the unexpected makes the unexpected the expected?
Re: Game makes my wireless network crash
Have you opened port UDP 47851 as per the networking FAQ?

You may also need to forward the port in the router.

Re: Game makes my wireless network crash
The thing is that my little brother, who is playing on the same network, doesn't have any problems at all so all of that should be ok. I never have the firewall on my pc on because it's already protected by the router, which was already modified so my brother could play it.
Edit :
I've done some more research and under my log I found out that I have the following error :
The browser has forced an election on network parameter because a master browser was stopped.
Source : Browser
Event Log : System
Event ID : 8033
Event Type : Information
Explanation:
The network must have a master browser.
User Action:
No user action is needed.
I've followed these instructions found on a different website :
Setting the IsDomainMaster parameter entry to True or Yes makes that computer a Preferred Master Browser which has priority over other computers in master browser elections. Whenever a preferred master browser starts, it forces a browser election. Any computer running Windows NT Workstation or Windows NT Server can be configured as a preferred master browser. If no other condition prevents it, the preferred master browser will always win the election. Set the parameter in the following registry path:
Hive: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Key: SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Browser\Parameters
Type: REG_SZ
Name: IsDomainMaster
Value: True
This didn't help though. Everytime I load the game it causes Event ID 8033, which causes my wireless internet to disconnect untill I shut the game down. After I shut the game down I don't have any problems at all, I'm connected again straight away.

Re: Game makes my wireless network crash
Did you configure the router firewall to pass through the Ryzom game ports so you can play? Specifically UDP 47851.
Ryzom is a very hefty application and can cause some software and USB based network cards to fail as they cannot get enough CPU time to work properly. This may be what is happening in your case.
You can also try using fixed IP addresses in the 192.168.0.xxx range. DHCP is not needed if you are not constantly introducing new machines to the net. Get the DNS settings and manually configure each of the machines.
I have Win XP Pro PC acting as a DSL gateway and have disabled DHCP as there is no need for it. All of my other PCs connect through that one via a wireless D-Link router (which also has disabled DHCP.)
