Goodbye is always hard to say

Kiliane got up stiffly, smiling. She had done it again. Her thoughts had run away with her, and she had spent the whole night up on Kami hill, looking over at Messakan Island… Oh well, time to get going, there was still loads to get done.

Walking down slowly towards Fairhaven, she remembered her first days here as a refugee, when she’d valiantly battled Cloppers and Goaris… and more often then not lost those battles ;) ; when she’d been so proud of her first boosted jewels…even if they were but a paltry attempt at something beautiful. She remembered the bustling around the trainers and the stables, everyone bursting with their own share of news and excitement. But this early in the morning, the city was still silent… it was her favourite time. The sun had just started to dust the spires with gold, and the Yubos were waking up, squeaking happily, carefree.

She slowly picked her way through the growing crowd of civilians tending to their daily chores and headed for Loria’s Rise. She’d have to pick up her stuff from the apartment first. And probably clean it up a bit, or the caretaker would get after her again… Bah, did a little dust hurt anyone? ;) .

She was going to miss this place. For years now it had been her home, and she had grown to love every single lapping wave, every single creaking plank of it. It might not be as impressive as the Matisians trees, or as well structured as the Fyrosian palaces or even as harmonious as the Zoraian temples… but there was a sweet charm to this city, perhaps a charm due to the people more than to the buildings themselves. After all, Trykers had always prided themselves in putting Homins first. And behind the quaint charm, they had made comfort one of their priorities… you just had to visit a guildhall to see it.

She tiptoed up the steps to the apartment she shared with her beloved ever since Arcana had asked her to marry her. They had handed over her own apartment to their daughter Dalin… hoping that she wouldn’t wreck every single piece of furniture in it :D . Walking into the room, she sighed at the sight of the packed bags overflowing the place… both happy and exasperated. Who would have ever thought they had acquired so many presents over the years they just couldn’t leave here? Old patched armours, swords, pikes, axes… somehow they just couldn’t get rid of them, for each had its special meaning: leftovers from Illuminati’s better times, or gifts from friends who had in the meantime disappeared.

“Killi?”
“Yes, it’s time to go. We have a long journey yet.”

Arcana got up and finished the preparations, smiling sadly. Who’d ever have thought it would come to this? Time worked in its own ways, and maybe his ways were better after all.

“Have you left enough cookies for Dalin and Nail?”
“Yes, and I even entrusted Watryk with the recipe… so they’d never run out of them :)
“Good idea. Do we have everything we need?”
“A couple things are left in the guildhall, but we can get them on the way. Oh, and don’t forget to give the key to the apartment to the caretaker, he’ll want it back ;)
“That crackpot old fool… always muttering about dirt and dust... but yes, I suppose you’re right,” chuckled Arcana.

As they walked to the guildhall on the other end of Fairhaven, they exchanged few words, each lost in her own thoughts, each saying goodbye in her own way.

The guildhall caretaker was snoring loudly as they passed, and never even answered their salutations… some things never changed, no matter what :p .
The guildhall looked empty without its usual junk cluttered up in the corners. Cleaning it had taken time, but it had been something to do. Now they just had to pick up the last parcel and head for the stables.

“Killi, what IS in this?”
“Oh…it’s something I made us a long time ago, for our wedding. But since we never had a chance to organize it, and that I’m too scared to invite all our friends to it now in these times of war, scared they’ll start arguing and hurting each other, I figured we could wear these outfits on our journey. They’re pretty but practical :)

Out of the bag came two light Fyrosian medium quality dresses, a black one and a white one.

“The white one is for you, since you’re the leader ;) ”.
“I’m not leading much anymore… but thanks Killi, it means a lot :) ”.

They stopped by the bar on their way out, depositing a couple envelopes that were to take care of their last business. Then onto the stables, where their packers were stationed. Poor Mektoubs … they really had a heavy load to carry. Then, both riding their mounts, they turned north. Towards Messakan Island. Towards the Wind of Muse. Towards the memories they held from the Lake lands, and would never forget.

Ooc: The first player who posts here that this is about ego should keep in mind that I’m cute and evil :p . Apart from that, goodbye to special friends such as Dalin, Drakfot, Gojeta, Jyudas, Kenshiro, Kostika, Kyerna, Nail, Seren, Spriteh, Waerwyn, Watryk and Zespiole, and all the Lagoons of Loria regulars. I’m probably forgetting half of my contact list, so I apologize to those that are not mentioned. My subscription ends in February, so I will be popping in Klients and IRC now and then (just to keep the CSR busy ;) ) and if by any chance I log in game, it will be as me a player trying to get in touch with other players, and not as Kiliane. May you all enjoy your stay on Atys :) .

*hugs Killiane*

A sad farewell if ever there was one. :(

I still remember the day we met in Fount and you confused me with all your fancy big words. I thought nothing more of it until chance led us to be diggin nearby soon after and I spent most of a day talking to you and neglecting my digging. I seem to remember you spent most of the time trying to convince me you were evil ;)

I hope our paths cross again Killiane. :)

you horrible kili ! you're not allowed to leave us like that !
And what about the twins hey ???
you were supposed to teach them everything you know, and all what they've learnt from you is swearing rude words !
I will certainly not miss you, but the twins are so sad... you helped them bringing bodocs in our appartment (they broke all the furniture)... you taught them how to wake us up with a bucket of cold water... you brought them to Dyron bar and gave them alcohol... and more thingds i ignore yet i suppose.
Can't say you were a good godmother.. but at least they had fun with you...

Bah, let's say i'll miss you too :)

I dunno if all the people who are posting goodbye notes know or not how depressing it is to a brand spanking new player of the game. Between someone posting on a gaming site about the company filing chapter 11, and all the goodbye I shall miss you notes, it is not only tempting for me to quit playing, but irl suicide is looking better and better daily (just kidding) this looks to be a killer game, and I will grind through, and try to get my irl friends to play.
I apologise for the (I'm sure) horrible board etiquette, and punctuation, please don't judge me by these (I hate forums but was scanning for any in game play help articles)

Hmmmm let me think.
I cant accept this goodbye.
Not from any of u both.
So heal your heart fast. Straight up all your irl.
AND COME BACK ASAP.

I miss both my harvesting time compressor and my FILO.

So take your time but i will still be there in this strange lands, feeling lonely sometimes until my favorite people come and bring me joy.
