Constructive request

Post by aardnebb »

How bout a PVP level limit?

I've been playing for 2 weeks approx now, and I am fed up of being ganked by 200+ level characters, and being told by GMs that they cant do anything as I have accepted that by playing in the event. But there are no other events at the moment, and no way of avoiding PvP, so how bout a little consideration for new players?

If you couldnt attack players with a combat skill of more than 50 levels difference for example it would solve a lot of problems.

Not a flame, a constructive request with a suggestion.

I've often thought that fighting should be capped at say 100, magic, range & melee. This allows everyone an option of achieving max a lot sooner. The diff is that crafted items can give varying addons depending on the level and that certain skillups could be purchased. Eg. not showing up on radar, sniper skill for range, double melee hit, double spell combo (as is atm) etc.

Add this to my post on PvP.

Edit: and maybe mirror armour which reflects part of the spell in an arc back where it came from.

agreed. but the calculation would have to be based on the difference between each homins max leveled skill.

So that a player who has leveled their foraging to say 150, but only leveled their melee to 10, would be classed a targetable pvp'er to someone with a melee of 150.

Hmmm....some more thought necessary. Off for some coffee and some cake.

If it was based on combat skill, instead of overall skill, that could work. Then in order for people to pvp each other, they must be within say 50 (maybe 100) levels of each other.

so a level 101 melee player could pvp against a level 1 melee player....

Might have to narrow that margin.

Maybe it should be in "bands". At higher levels a few levels dont make much difference, but at lower they are a major upgrade.

I've seen people of 200-250 all fighting reasonably happily, but someone with 60 melee to my 42 will pwn me.

how about any player with a skill level lower than 100 has to enable pvp?

This way, any new player is immune from pvp unless they want it? Anyone with a level higher than 100 is automatically flagged for pvp?

Gives the non pvp'ing new players a chance to have a bit of fun and get some levels in before gank time?

Hmmm maybe it is wise to restrict them to 150 levels in any tree!

I thought about what you just said and it could mean that a noob could go all the way to 99 and then start a new skill and take that to 99 just to avoid pvp.

If it were 150 levels in total regardless of the skill tree i think that might work better

Im also new around here but must say i kind of enjoy things as they are. Actually the thing about current PvP that annoys me most are the limitations on whom you can attack and whom you can heal.
I think it should be possible to make mistakes and accidentaly nuke one of your friends.
It should also be possible to heal anyone you want to heal. I mean if im at war i will want to avoid healing my enemy, but if i decide to do so why should it be physically impossible for me to do so?

I just dont like set rules like that, better to lose standing with your faction if you heal an enemy or whatever. But it should be possible to make mistakes!

Capping the levels for PvP would just dull things down. Im currently around lvl40 in offensive magic, but if i ever manage to get up to 230+ i sure want to use those spells when fighting. Would be silly not to use the most powerful weapons at your disposal if you find yourself in a fight to the death.

I agree that high-level player should not gank new players, but I see a flaw with a PvP limit.
This game already has a rather large gap between the high and low level player base and how they play together. Also not everyone goes out and power levels, some homins have been playing for months and still have low level skills. So dose this leave them out of the PvP if they with to help. No one should be excluded from doing something if they don't have a high enough skill to help fight the so called ganker.
