Some questions and answers on the building of these great edifices, as given by the Kami and Karavan Envoys recently
We hear the voices of mystified homins asking many and diverse questions, so now is the time for us to offer some more enlightenment upon the holy quest you have been charged with. Here are some answers to help your way:
What will happen to the buildings? Some haven't a properly build root/pedestal and we can't find shell in the new region, can they be done though or will the sanctuary/temple collapse?
Jena and Ma-Duk can compensate for a lack of construction materials, though this will be limited to but a few temples, only the temples that have been most completed so far will benefit from the intervention of Jena or Ma-Duk. Also the faithful ones have interest to work on the most completed temples
Why do we need to fight the other faction, why can't we just work side-by-side?
Jena and Ma-Duk fight against one another, your goal is not only to build temples but to build more than the Kami or Karavan
Why do we need to dig materials when Jena and Ma-Duk could simply boost them themselves?
The temples will be a covenant between the Jena or Ma-Duk and all homins. For such a bond to work, each party must make an investment in it. The homins do so by collecting resources and building the parts, and Jena and Ma-Duk do so by investing a share of their power in them.
Where do the names Aelius, Olkern and Almati originate?
Aelius Dunes
Aelius was a Fyros general of great reputation. He was in charge of training young Fyros recruits for the armies. His favourite expression was Sweating prevents bleeding. No training was too hard or intensive when it came to making the Fyros the best warriors of all of Atys, after years of vainly trying to change the Fyrosian traditions, Aelius left his responsibilities in the Imperial Army so that he could devote himself to improving the training of the Fyros warriors. Followed by a few of his friends, he went in search of a place in the desert which would be suitable to build a training base for the future warriors of Fyros. After a long search he finally discovered a series of dunes surrounding a plain, and within a few months his training camp was completed.
During the years the Aelius Dunes saw an ever increasing number of Fyros who came there to enhance their combat skills. The skill of its disciples brought Aelius great fame and eventually his program was adopted as the official training program which is still used today throughout the Fyros Empire. Although the original training camp was destroyed in the Great Swarming, it is rumoured to be located underneath the Kami encampment.
Olkern Lake
Olkern was one of the best and most adventurous poets of the Trykers. His self-documented exploits, whether real or imaginary, of were very popular in his lifetime. Tales such as Matis and the king of the Bodocs enjoyed untold fame among all the Homin peoples, though perhaps not among the Matis aristocracy themselves.
Olkern had chosen a peaceful place where he could compose his poems, an isolated lake. Upon this lake he had built a floating house, one of great beauty. Unfortunately, Olkerns house and indeed much of his writing has disappeared during the Great Swarming.
Almati Woods
Almati was a very well known Matis botanist. At the end of his life he became the Master Botanist of the royal court. This burden involved sylviculture of plants designated to shelter the royal apartments of the next generations.
Almati choose a good place for the development of the plants. During a number of years he planted hundreds of saplings in a place which soon took his name.
His knowledge permitted him to quicken the growth of the young trees. The beauty of the trees, the sweet light slanting through the heavy foliage made the wood a place for a pleasant stroll for Matis affected by melancholia.
The rumour said that Almati was an alchemist too and that he was doing dubious work. However, his proximity to the royal power discouraged feeble efforts by his opponents to investigate his methods and gave him ample room for continuing his work.
Moreover, many wanderers disappeared under mysterious conditions in the Almati wood. The antagonists of Almati were pretending discretely that the old man and his young and devoted assistants were working in a secret laboratory situated in mysterious caves buried under the roots of his trees. No one of his enemies could find the entrance.
As the rumours circulated with the disappearances of wandering homins, the king chose to ask his Master of the Palace to investigate the affair and discern the nature of the rumours.
Luck or misfortune for Almati, some days later the great swarming fell on the Matis kingdom. Like so many others, Almati disappeared in the torments and his caves became ever after a subject of longing and curiosity for the alchemists and the botanists.
Why are the sources in the old lands quickly exhausted? In the new lands the ground is exploited to much greater extent and still there are enough sources.
The materials needed for the construction of the sanctuaries are very different compared to those which are normally collected in the new lands. Their special qualities will enable the sanctuaries to shelter the divine power. These same qualities make their veins smaller and more quickly depleted.
Who are these representatives that lead the meetings?
The representatives of the Kami are fervent worshippers of Ma-Duk. They have been chosen by the Kamis to pass on the thoughts and the words of Ma-Duk to their Homin brothers. These homins have passed long years in the jungle in a secret place, living and meditating in the companies of the great Kamis. The years of meditation have developed a fierce adoration of the Kamis and a steady religious conviction.
The Karavan emissaries are members of the Karavan. Their mission consists of giving important information to the homins and to be the voice of Jena on Atys for the homins. They are of course worshippers of Jena, therefore Karavaneers. Be reminded that a Karavaneer is an adept of Jena and of the Karavan; a Karavan is a member of the Karavan.
What do you think of Tryton?
Kami - Tryton is an enemy of Jena, who has sometimes helped us, but in the end will always pursue his own goals. Considering the current circumstances, he may help us, or hinder us just as easily. Therefore we cannot regard him as an ally.
Karavan - Tryton is a traitor! A renegade who, in his selfish pride, rejected Jenas majesty! He now wields his intellect to direct his malevolent followers to their wicked causes. By making empty promises, he tries to lure homins into becoming his slaves!
Why can't we see the parts of the sanctuaries though you say that these have been build?
The temples will be built by the gods themselves. Waiting for the day of divine building, the pieces built by the Homin crafters are stored by the Kamis or Karavan. That is why the pieces can't be seen before the final assembly.
Why are the Kitin in the old lands so aggressive?
The behavior of the kitin is dictated by their location. When the kitin win land, like the ancient lands for example, they become very watchful and react with force to every intrusion. That is why the kitin are more warlike in the ancient lands.
Are the sanctuaries and temples going to be used by the factions when they are completed?
Yes, the sanctuaries and temples will be used as places of devotion and learning.
Who exactly is Shaly Nara?
Shaly Nara is the leader of the Guild of Try, the bodyguards of the tryker governor.
Why were the temples boosted and how?
The gods interfered to help their faithful and to give support to their faith. This divine intervention is exceptional.
Were they all boosted equally?
All temples and sanctuaries where the Homin passed a critical threshold in the building, received the same help from the gods.
