client.log files

Post by apb47 »

As short while ago I tp'ed to the forest event lands, and my game started having lag problems. At one point the ping hit over 1.3million. plus ryzom was using up 95% of my cpu power. Was sitting it out and then I got complaints that I was low on hd space. freed up about 1.3gigs and lo and behold, I looked at the hd, and I had 400Kb free. I ended up closing the game down to see if I could find the problem. I did. Ryzom had been happily writing client#.log files. each file is 5Mb, and 492 of them were writen! Now I know *where* the space went, but anyone any idea as to *why*?

Normally there should only be one client.log and one log.log files that get overwritten everytime that you launch the game. The only reason I can think of for so many log files is that the game does not have permission to overwrite the logs. Make sure that you are using an account that has full permissions on the folder that Ryzom resides in.

never had any problems before, but I checked, and it's not read-only, so should be ok. and I'd been playing the game for a while, so it obviously worked as it should at start up. I've since logged in and the problem hasn't happened again. Must have somehow got caught in a loop when the graphics for the land I'd tp'ed into got loaded, or something.
