two main points
1. the proposed Factional Zone control will deny new players the chance to explore Atys that we all had, and make the game into a hostile and unpleasant place.
2. the combat system is so unbalanced that it is futile for sub-AoD's to participate. Even at level 220 Ele, I cant get a spell past an AoD's resistance.. and my sap and Hp reserves are inadequate for a kill also.
Solution.
Make it so the FvF isnt available to characters below level 200 (combat). Atys is open and available to explore freely, as it is right now, until the character has grown enough to make a meaningful contribution to the war. This can be justified simply by saying lower levels are too inconsequential for the 'powers' to worry about.
This will give people who want to join in a goal to aim for, and bored High Level players are already qualified.
Unfortunately, I myself am up there too, but please, dont force the children to fight !
Speak up for a minimum age of conscription !!

Great Idea, then at least new player will still have the freedom to roam about Atys. Myself included, I have 250 forage but only a 134 heal and a 70 something fight.
Re: a suggestion that might save Atys
* it does not account for low level players willing to actively take part into it. Levelling to 200 is time consuming, specially for casual players.
* it favors level based segregation.
* it may have some side effects
The fact is, it takes way more resources to update a game giving a meaningful progressive cooperative game, satisfying all players than to add capture the flag, risk, command and conquer and king of the hill minigames to the current game.
.
edit: cooled down.

What if a new player wishes to help in FvF? They then have no choice but to grind a skill to 200 just to participate in FvF? New players already feel isolated and feel they can't make a difference. Why make the gap between the high and low level players bigger?

I don't think you(and others) give enough credit for how far Nevrax has come. I agree things have taken way too long up until now. (I was hoping for Outposts around 4th of July.) I do belive it is clear that they have put the necessary effort into the things that have just been put in place, and with the things coming in the future. The Spring clean finished, The EP2 got patched in (and quickly patched), The Outposts are soon to be delivered, followed by a FvF world patched in, and Ryzom Ring. I do believe they are planning the next thing, and the team that worked EP2 is to pick that up and begin the work on it.
In effect what I am saying is that NEVERax is being transformed into HereItComesRax. They are pipelining things, and moving things along. I believe your different content is on the way, and the story will progress with it. Keep adding your feedback, and telling the story you would like to see. They are listening.
If you cannot see that they have gone from a totally fractured, without a clear direction company, to one that is starting to deliver near on time, and with enough to keep us occupied until the next piece of deliverable is ready I am not sure what you are seeing.
Yes, EP2 could be better, but are there improvements here over the Kitin Invasion we remember? Have they listened and quickly patched some things? Don't minimize all of the things they are doing readily for us. It IS much better than it was even if this content was not your favorite. They will be making you happy sooner than you think.
I believe,

You are right Noin. All the mixed feelings are also affecting me. Sometimes I go way off the line, Sometimes I post without giving it a some time. And for that, I apologize. I guess it's noisy those days.
I still believe.

Re: a suggestion that might save Atys
.. new players CANT make a difference. they dont have the offensive punch. they dont have the healing power. they dont have the resistances. they dont have the hit points. the only thing you can say for them is that they still soak up a spell from an Avatar of destruction to kill.forever wrote:What if a new player wishes to help in FvF? Let them grind skills and powerlevel their offensive abilities in order to get to the war. It should take long enough to require them to actually pay for an account and not just use the free trial. It will also have the effect of requiring a powerful player to take time away from the war to train them.. hooray - more realistic !
Any new player who tries to participate in the system as it stands will feel more than isolated. At least under this suggestion they can have a goal and a period of enjoying the game before it all goes sour.
