Grouping

Post by darkov »

Does this really happen, honestly truthly?

I've been playing four days now and have only seen one group, which was a couple of friends from rl.

Once I left the newb isle for the Matis I enquired about it, but there just doesn't seem to be anyone doing it. Well, I've rerolled, I see talk of guilds with up to 30 people in them, I hope I actually see some of you online.

And is there a grouping range? Like people won't group if you're not within a few levels of them?

Grouping happens alot just need to be chatty and talk to people, before long you'll find players to group with. You do need to find players close to your level though. XP is calculated depending on the highest level of attacks/casts that are done during the encounter by all the members of the team. The highest attack/cast used sets the xp level, so if there are 5 lvl 22 fighters and a lvl 70 healer is healing you you'll get XP as the lvl 70 healer would. e.g. 1xp or something equally pathetic.

Of course if that same healer was only lvl 25 melee and they only used melee during the encounter then XP would be calculated with lvl 25 melee being the highest and you'd all get more. It takes a little time to work it out but it makes sence.

Groups used to very popular in beta, as time goes on you will find more and more people will group. Its a much better way to fight mobs above your level and visit areas that are normally beyond your char abilities. It also means you have less downtime between fights as you will have more fighters (mobs die quicker) and healers (less time to regen). That means more adventures and fun :)

You have to scream and kick and whine for a group if you dont know anyone already. Without going to spam levels it does require a little effort. Best solution is to join a guild.

Grouping is such an exp advantage in this game you are insane if you dont do it.
