Before anything else consider a few small but significant facts about me IC and OOC:
- I am a loudmouth. I have an opinion here and I am not afraid to use it!
- I have a brain. True, seldom it is in heavy use, but it is there all the same.
- I am like a barrel of gunpowder at times. With a short fuse.
- I am not blind for other people and their opinions.

This made me see a pattern I have seen in many occasions where a change is made to a static state which incorporates humans and their personalities.
The fases that can be seen, so how I am experiencing them.
1: First reaction. These are mostly fiery in a positive or a negative sense.
2: Discussion. This can and will be as fiery as the first reaction. Some diplomats will try to point out good point to critics and bad points to supporters to get these two groups together. Mostly the diplomats get flamed by both groups.
3: Suggestions for small adjustment to the big change to make it better. All three groups (supporters, critics and diplomats) will make suggestions from their own point of view.
The weirdest is the next step, because this is how the human mind works.
4: No matter how bad a situation for a population, a large group of people will try to look at it from the positive position, especially overtime and with the situation persisting. Kinda like self-hypnosis to keep oneselve sane. Some people who cannot do this, who are too smart, too stubborn or too deprived from any form of nutricion for the soul, these people dissappear.
Obviously the positives dont have to act like this as they percieve the change to be a good thing. The diplomats will be happy because the group of critics got a smaller voice.
This will not mean critics became or will become supporters, this means they will endure the situation. Consious or unconsious they made the decision to rather enjoy it a bit then to poison their own mind with negative thoughts too much. To be able to do this, freedom of opinion will have to allowed from all sides so one can get to know all sides and a way to adapt to the new state of things.
What does this mean for SoR?
- We should let each other speak up. Positive, negative, diplomat should all be able to voice their opinions in a respectful way. We *are* a mature community, I think we can do it.
- More then a few people who are against PvP might find a loophole to be part of it, they will hypnotise themselves and make up reasons why they actually can enjoy this FvF event. Like I have: "I shalt only dig and heal unless in the course of action where defensive actions are needed." So when I repeat often enough something Spiff said "You only put them to sleep." you might actually find me in the frontlines nuking people to defend the diggers or something, maybe even revenge.
- Dont point out the change of mind, the change of actions. We are not here to catch other people make mistakes or denying them flexibility. Nobody has the authority to tell or question other people, we are free roaming homins.
- It means we should not let go of the respect we build up over the past year. Respect for each other, for the way they play or for the rambling on the boards. Which is a nice bridge to my final point.
How to keep SoR the game we loved so much?
Mentioned already is the great mature community we have, the many friends we made, the good fun we had and might have. Of course there are a few people that kinda dislike each other and some individuals who are lacking the respect and maturity we so much proud each other for. I will sound like a moaner, but sitting on dead bodies to take a dump and a screenshot is too much the action of a griefer, showing not a lack of respect, but out the other side to disrespect. In the big picture tho, I see respect and maturity in all actions.
Please, I ask everyone on my humble little Tryker knees to keep the maturity and understanding like this. If the respect, maturity and understanding is lost, the greatest asset of this game is lost. That will cause many more unsubbers then a few PvP or GvG or FvF zones, because people can adapt their views at things, but cannot change their heart. Because if PvP can be the start of anything, it can start the final chapter of this helpfull, kind and understanding community. Enjoy PvP, just keep in mind what damage can be done by "just a joke".

Nobody reacted to your post, but this is a reaaally interesting one. Very smart and true. The point 4 is not well explained, but it's a typical psychological subject (nothing more on this as it'd be off-topic ^^).
Come on people, think a bit about all this
(you're really thinking too much Frydes
