The newbie islands are a lot different from the mainland. I've taken the ship to the ML at various levels and the higher the better since the difficulty really starts to ramp up quickly. But it's not impossible to take a level 13 char over and do good. Newbie island is just easier and has everything packed in more tightly.

oh ok thats cool dude...i guess i will be ok then though with like 25 lvls in fight...I guess it might also have to do a little bit with what kind of "class" you are doing and such eh?

I went at 27 fight, 20 magic. I promptly died because I ventured too far out and got jumped by 4 Ragus (Ragi?). Now, I don't venture very far, and so far I'm cool. Whatever you decide, good luck!

I think it depends on your play style. If you plan to be a solo fighter, you should be able to solo kipee before you go. If you will be in a guild you can go as soon as you create your character, if they will help you. As a general rule I recommend people be at least level 20 in their skill of choice. On the other end of the scale I have seen people stay on the noob isle until they hit level 50. This is silly. You will actually work harder and meet fewer people if you try to level so high in an area that is simply meant to teach new players the basics. Good luck in your gaming and hope to see you there.

Yeah, really. If you're going to be heading to dangerous areas you should partner up anyhow, so you can survive larger creatures and gain loads of exp.

If you are only into combat (Fighting/Magic) then you could go at just about anytime. If you go below 25 then expect to group up on the mainland or you will have a rougher time. Since you can get to 25 in an evening or 2 of play there really isn't much reason to go earlier unless you are joining up with your friends/guildmates. I would recommend staying until kipees start giving less than 1000 exp per kill (around 34 or so). By this time you should also have accumulated enough dapper to buy a crafter-made Q20 choice weapon or two and a decent suit of your preferred Q20 armor, which will help a lot on the mainland.

If you are a crafter I would stay until 40+. It is easy to reach that level doing missions on the newbie island and you end up making dapper as well. My understanding is that it is a lot harder skilling up on missions on the mainland. At level 43 in melee weapon crafting I am still getting over 1000 exp after making a Q20 2-hander on newbie island. So I plan to stay until 50 or so. Plus, by combining my crafting with Harvesting for choice materials I sell a lot of weapons to other newbies. So my Harvesting is also over 40. I'm not in any real hurry to leave since I am (1) meeting a lot of people, i.e., building up a future customer base, (2) helping a lot of people to get started and hopefully making their initial game experience more enjoyable to help build up long-lasting interest in the game and (3) amassing a large quantity of dapper before going to the mainland (pack animals and houses are expensive!).

Whatever you decide to do have fun with it!

See you in-game -
