total noob question

i really hate to do this but
i'm suppose to be digging up a piece of amber to get on with the tutorial
after casting and digging for a few hours on the southern cliffs i have not found it
about to give up on the entire game already

You can either ignore the tutorial and just play and have fun by not doing those missions.

Or if you really want to do it then see if you can find the amber on one of these newbie islands maps.

If your spending hours not having fun skip the missions that the tutorial gives you and come to the mainland and ask players there for help as well as reading the newbie guides on this forum. Specifically harvesting missions when you dont have tracking, range, cone and speed can be very frustrating. Actually now that I think of it the harvesting tutorial mission shouldnt have such a hard to find item be the mssion maybe just some of the sap that spawns in town

lol. I'm doing the same Quest and have been killed about 10 times now on my way to the cliffs! I'm dead before I can turn to face my attacker. Think i'll be heading off to the mainland really soon

This game is very tough and the 'quests' few and far between. So just don't bother or worry about them IMO. If you need cash, just find a player, they have millions and don't know what to do with them.

FYI: At one point, the devs tweaked the mobs such that a newbie couldn't even kill a suckling Yubo. It seems they want to kill us all!

General opinion however is come to the mainland when you get to level 20.

Well now I know how to actually kill the easy stuff (wondered what those gloves were for lol) I've actaully been having fun increasing my Melee skills and decided not to go to the mainland just yet. I learned quite a lot today tho an still getting killed now and then by creatures I'm not sure if I can defeat until I attack them lol. Only thing is the Yubo I keep killing are so cute ... makes me feel bad

You don't have to kill the yubo. Up your Constitution with other skills like foraging, healing magic, crafting etc., then you can skip to capryni and bodoc and maybe weeny gingo...

Games first impression is important.

Yep, there is major problem with some missions. Not that they can't be done, but they waste a lot of new players time.

1. Finding first time the "hidden" materials in new players island.
- If just the Deposit Tracking could work better.

2. Doing the first deliver message or order missions for npc.
- The area where npc can be is just too BIG for new player.

3. Doing the first special mission material harvesting.
- Players needs to find the mission material spots before taking these "timed" missions.

Using Internet web-page can solve these problems, but the harm is allready done. New player has allready waste huge amount of time trying to do the mission.

I hope Development team would take little time to solve these problems.

Yea i'm doing them too! My HP are 250 now but am still gewtting killed by some of the Capryni. Some are easy some not so. I think maybe I need a new weapon lol
