Hi everyone,
I am an occasional player of Ryzom since its launch and I would like to understand rules concerning damages absorption by armor depending on their quality and the adversary.
If I take an example, I play a warrior with a skill in combat of 50 and an heavy armor of quality 50. Against a Gingo, I have 50% absorption. Will this absorption will be higher if I had a level 80 in combat warrior and a 80 quality armor or will that not change anything ?
Thanks for your answers and long life to Ryzom (a game with great potential thanks to its original backgroung) !

Re: Absorption des dommages
Here it is, I translated my initial post.
Re: damages absorption
Will stay the same. The only thing which changes is the max damage which is absorbed - a q50 armor will not absorb the whole 50% from a lvl 90 mob, since it does too much damage, but a q80 armor will.
You will suffer considerably less damage with lvl 80 fighting compared to lvl 50, though, but thats because the gingo will miss a lot more often.

Re: damages absorption
Actually, I am curious about this as well (in English please ).
I am at combat level 42 and have been seriously longing to replace my q20 heavy armor for a while (still working on scraping enough cash together for a q50 or 70 set) since I has the impression that it was probably below sub par at my current level.
However, last night fighting Scowling Cloppers, I noticed (I probably should have before ) that pretty much every single hit I took was for half damage - matching the 50% protection on my armor very well.
I am assuming then that even though my armor is more than 20 levels below what I probably should be wearing, it is actually performing just as well as a q50+ set of armor would against those mobs?
I am also assuming that the numbers below the protection percentage is the max damage/hitpoints that will be absorbed, so if I had been up against a mob that did a good deal more damage per hit (if there are some of those mobs in the same level range that I would realistically be going up against), I would probably not get the full 50% protection from the armor. Correct?

There are two limiting factors for armor:
a) protection factor
b) max. absorption against slashing/smashing/piercing damage
Let's take a ql50 heavy armor with a protection factor of 50% and 80 points absorption against each of the three damage classes. This armor will be most effective for mobs dealing up to 160 points of damage per hit. If a mob deals 200 damage per hit, only 80 points will get absorbed, leaving 120 points to get through.
