One player's opinion:
Every patch that is released has lots of problems that the devs didn't anticipate. To an extent, I can sympathize, their testing resources are limited, there aren't enough people allowed onto ATS to test anything at a team level, and they simply can not know the game the way we do. Sure, they know more about how the game *should* work, since they created it - but we live on Atys, and we know how things *really* work, in practice, when your virtual life is on the line.
That said - I for one would like to see the devs stop trying to get everything right before they release the new stuff they have in the works. Yo, devs - parts are going to be broken, regardless. Just accept that, and give it to us sooner, rather than later. Let us figure it out and tell you what parts work and what parts don't, when things are still at a point where they can be changed for the better. We'll kvetch and moan about the dumb stuff we find, but we'll also be happily playing with new toys, as long as some of it is good stuff.

Re: Something new. Please.
This was pointless since you know full well that the spring clean is over and that new content is on the way. It has been mentioned, already, that the last patch was the last patch for the spring clean.

Re: Something new. Please.
No, it's not at all pointless. Yes, new stuff is supposedly on the way. Yay. But, they've stated that they're going to put things through all sorts of 'rigorous testing' and make sure things are *just right* before letting it out the door. My point is: the testing they have in-house and on ATS is proven incapable of finding serious flaws--so why not skip a lot of that delay and get the good stuff to us sooner, rather than later?akicks wrote:This was pointless since you know full well that the spring clean is over and that new c****** is on the way.

points at mounts, encylopedia.
rushing things to live server was it seems what caused the need for the spring clean in the first place as lots of problems were introduced in the code base. I'm all for getting new stuff ingame asap but to dump it in without proper testing is asking for (more) trouble.
the patch process seems to have improved an awful lot judging from the lack of issues with the last couple would b a shame to go back to how it was previously.

I say let them test. It can be the difference between minor bugs and a complete disaster.

Re: Something new. Please.
Let them test. Nothing worse than a bad patch with several following jo-jo patches that buff and nerf things to get it right.
Isn't QA/QC what they brought Jessica Mulligan in for?

Re: Something new. Please.
i think what you prosose is what they are doing with the undocumented patches, ie the renaming of karavan fordidden depths tp to kami forbidden depths tp, background stuff, and yes some slighty more important stuff. i think one reason they are doing extensive testing on the new content is because as previously stated the outpost and chapter 2 stuff includes rewards, personel and guild, i think they are worried many will recieve these rewards in a way not intended and unearned in the correct manner. Jessica promised proper testing and we all rejoiced, shes doing her job, and personnally looking forward to (mostly) bug free realeases of the things mentioned, if they weren`t finished and buggy, it would cause alot bigger threads than this one, no offense.
on another note, would like to see some beta testing for R2 before realease

Re: Something new. Please.
We do not want Patch One to happen again. Let them test it. Tiny problems are a hell of alot easier to fix than big ones. I'd rather they do their best to get it as close to perfect before giving it to us.
