How usefull mounts are?

Post by sentri »

Hello there!

Was wondering about this how usefull mounts (the ones you can ride on) are.
During my travels discovered yesterday that one can buy mount for like 500k dappers, amount my warrior will not have for a while.
But haven't seen single homin riding a mount yet.

Are homins not riding mounts at all? Or I just have this bad luck to not see any who does?

Generaly how much fun and how usefull mounts are?

Thanks in advence for replies!

there is some ppl who ride mounts, usually in matis.
i use my mount mainly to get my packers (all three) from one land to other - it's fun too ;-)

you can get away from aggros / travel thru laggro area more easyly with mount.
you cant use any actions while sitting on one tho, so you should have high dodge/parry/hp to deal with some hits you may get.

I have a mount i never use, poor bored thing.

I don't use because there is very annoying bug in that when u get off u r basically invisible. other homins can see you having some kind of fit where u parked your mount however.. It's easily solved by teleporting but it makes me not bother until they fix it.

Im just taking advantage of my trail ac**** atm.

BTW
I like idea of grind to get this mount. I really like that things don't come easly the more satisfaction they give :)
Bit worried about this mentioned bug though...

Well guess long time will pass since I will have 500k spare dappers anyway ;)

The bug can be solved by targetting the person who sees you bugged, and running away (about 250ish meters) until they are automatically untargetted. Them targetting you and running away works too.

Mounts are fun to ride. :) And they make travel safer, as Blaah mentioned. And they're a lifesaver (literally) when you need to reach someone quickly for a rez.

Their hunger bar (white bar in the CTRL+P window) only goes down while they are running. If they are walking, standing, or in stable, it doesn't go down at all.

The "Feed Animal #1" or "Feed Animals" services in the stable (you'll see what I mean once you have a mount that is in the stable) refill your animal's hunger bar (without you having to buy food, transfer it to your animal's inventory, and wait for the hunger bar to reach 0 before it eats the food).

Quoted from this Q&A: http://ryzom.com/?page=news&id=915
If you're on a mount, it's the character (you) who gets the aggro and damages. The only exception to this rule is through the use of AoE spells (which includes Gingo blinding dust, Yelk gas, source explosions/toxic clouds, etc), which also affect the mount.

If you're not on your mount, but near it, the mobs will still prefer to aggro you. However, this is more dangerous for your mount, since you have to stay close for this to work.

In all other cases, your mount will get the aggro if it is slower than the mob. As a result, rapid (packers) are only attacked by a limited set of mobs, such as the gingos, which would be able to run quickly enough to catch a mektoub if they had to.

The bars in the CTRL+P window are:
Red: HP/Health
White: Hunger
Yellow: Bulk

Doh nm!

I was going to give you my horsey >.<

It's parked somewhere near Yrkannis right now, in a purty desolate place (see if you can guess it). Haven't touch it in a while though.

If you do want it, lemme know.

My mount has been munching on tufts of grass in large field of aggro in the Lagoons of Loria for the past couple of weeks. It hasn't been useful to me, but I've heard that the Death Cute has had alot of fun riding it! :D
