Install Problem

I'm getting a message that the files are 'corrupt, pls try downloading again' at the end of the extracting the fresh download of ryzom.

I've now downloaded it twice and am trying bit torrent atm, but can anyone help me out here? Is this a known/fixable problem with the download?

I really don't want to wait through another 4 hour download to try out my free trial account.

btw, i have over 80gig free space on my drive before extracting, so i don't think that's the issue, and it is a complete file upon full download [ryzom-full-p2 - 228 MB (239,757,600 bytes)]

***i just tried installing it to another computer and got the same 'corrupt' result, so it's definitely a problem with the d/l, i really hope the bittorrent d/l will work.

The download is not corrupt on the Nevrax end. You may also want to make sure your system is clean of viruses and spyware. Also try downloading to a different spot.

Update: Bit Torrent D/L ---> install works; so there must be an issue with the mirrored sites I guess...both of the machines i tried to install the previous 2 d/l's are as spy/virus free as you can get, there's something fishy with that file...

But as I said, BitTorrent worked fine...

Ehm - a complete download should be 1234,9 MB... How big was your BT download?

I got that too when I installed. I could still run the game, however. But the game crashed a lot. So I just redownloaded...happened again. /sigh

What graphics card do you have ? And is it set in the configuration to use Direct3D or OpenGL ? In general if you have an ATI based card use D3d, Nvidia use OpenGL. There has been some small problems with this sometimes if it was set to "auto", often solved by telling the configuration what 3D acc. method to use.

Myself & some friends have also had the exact same problems.
I downloaded .exe about 4 times & always got the corrupt files shown on install. Just went out an bought it in the end. The BT wasn't around then

If it ever does install to the point where you can use the ryzom_recover.exe you should try running that, this may give you a clean set of files that work.

IMO The Ryzom downloads need some testing/modification.
Such as moving to a different server, .Zip -ping, .Rar -ing and such for a smaller download which may reduced the risk of faulty data being sent.

I agree something should be done to make it more error-free, Jayce.

I've seen WAY too many "Error downloading/installing the game" posts in this section!

Imagine, for every post in here on that subject, there could be 3 or more people giving up and never trying the game!

It needs to be delivered smoothly so new palyers can at least try it with minimal issues....

Yeah I got the same error with the regular download. When I started it it said it had the Gig or so to download, but when it finished it had only downloaded about 300 megs.

I'm downloading the torrent now, so hopefully it will work.

As some people said this is a major flaw when trying to get new peeps. I mean if I was on 56k and that happened, I wouldn't have even bothered getting it again.
