Game crahses frequently all of a sudden

Hello. I have been playing Ryzom on my computer for about a month or so and it has been running quite nicely. Recently, however, I have been running into a problem where for seemingly no reason the screen will go nuts and the game freezes my whole system up.

A better description is: A bunch of pixelated rectangles fill the screen and lock my system up. It has happened during combat, loading a zone and even while standing and chatting. Doesn't matter what region of the world I'm. I have not changed anything on my system since the initial installation of the game, but it happens quite often now...out of nowhere. Any help is appreciated.

Hm.
Did you check your system temperature?
Does anything appear in your client.log when the game freezes your box?

Are you perhaps using the latest nvidia drivers ?
I have heard that it after sometime looses 3d acc performance after a while of playing. No indication that its due to overheat or so ? . Im having the problem myself that it seems to be a bit too hot outside and inside today =)

I had dead fan once in my computer and it gave similar but not identical symptoms. Worth checking out.

Same as mmatto. I once had a similar problem with another game and found it was because the fan had stopped working.

I had similar problems, and it may sound stupid, but the problems vanished, after I reinstalled every card of my system. I hat the impression that one of the cards my have been loose.

Well I think it might have been heat build up. I'm using a laptop and now that I have it elevated I haven't had the problem again. Thanks for all the help.

I am glad to hear that you have sorted out the problem my friend =).
There are coolings for laptops available if you continue to have these issues, a board that you place under the laptop with fans to cool it down.
